Are you planning to link up MS Speech engine? /me personally would be ok with Lua on-screen messages.

Is it a standard component since Windows XP, or can be made optional? If yes, I can think about it.

I actually thought about on-screen text messages.
 
AFAIK it was shipped with XP, and I installed SAPI on W2K as well. The default Microsoft Sam voice is fine for most messages :-) (the "Russian" version of the voice pack is OTOH _awful_)

Ok, I will note this for version 1.2 or later.

1.0 = Soyuz 7-OK fully functional, goal for first stable release.
1.1 = early Soyuz 7-T
1.2 = late Soyuz 7-T, Soyuz 7-T/AF, Soyuz 7-T/F, Soyuz 7-TM
1.4 = Salyut support
1.5 = Soyuz-T
 
I still don't know where the external TV cameras of the Soyuz capsule are...

Same here. I've tried to locate them by looking at EVA footage....

It seem to be mixed video from both spacecraft and not a simple reflection. Anyway, I can't make out the exact point of view.

Patience! I does work, but I'm still trying to get a logical launch/jettison sequence.

Right now, it's Service Module, Reentry Module, Orbital Module. But perhaps I'll change it so that the Reentry module is the first active craft.

But if you are in the Reentry module, your forward view is blocked by the Orbital module. The VC is offset to the periscope location, so this is not a real problem. But if you use Camera MFD on the periscope :thumbup: you have to move the camera manually, so it's messy. Here's what it looks in action:

From my point of view, having to use Remote MFD (to control the Service module) adds to the experience, because you have more to do with the spacecraft. The only downside is not hearing sound from RCS.

For docking, Dock MFD only works if you select the Orbital Module (all other modules are docked together). I've also set it up to give you the same VC view, and this way camera MFD give a usable forward view.

Of course, if you launch it as it is... this is what you get:

I have to watch the bonus parts of a DVD again, there is a long NASA documentary about ASTP maybe I can get better images there. The footage on youtube only shows the center line camera in the docking port.

I have produced a small translation of the program control indicator (Soyuz 7K-OK version)... for development purposes, would also make some nice manual.

The acronyms in the translation:
Accel. = Integrating accelerometer, more common acronym would be PIPA for NASA spacecraft, but PIPA describes a special kind of integrating accelerometer, not sure if it is the same kind in Soyuz.
GA-A = Gyro assembly A (roll axis)
GA-B = Gyro assembly B (yaw axis)
DCS = Descent control system.
Min = Minutes (M)
RGA = Rate Gyro Assembly
SKDU = Main engine

Entry RGAs are the RGAs installed in the Descent Module, tied into the DCS.

Small explanations or meditation:

"Ends in 105 minutes" seems to indicate that the 85 minute scale is actually a 105 minute scale, and the index moving slower than normal - it places the SKDU burn about one orbit after activating the program.

The "ACTIVE" in "ACTIVE SKDU" is lit when the SKDU is ignited.

If I was taking up as much personal time as I think you are, I'd create something more than an add-on. A website will get mentioned as a reference in a lot of places, including books, and is a good way to protect your work. Immediate copyright, basically, if the material is original and you are the first to publish it ;)

There it is (Warning, 820 MB is no joke). a 300 page PDF file, as far as I can tell about the description on the NTRS.

About the TV cameras, it looks like that mystery gets solved slowly... one PDF says that Soyuz has four TV cameras in total, two inside the spacecraft (known to be OM and DM), and two outside, one of these was aligned with the docking port. The other was center line below the capsule, on the PM as far as I can tell from the ASTP videos, pointed at the EVA egress hatch.

Interesting fact - the TV cameras on Soyuz had been designed to directly feed into the ground TV networks.

After some more bad translations, and little coding, I have a tiny mesh change request: Can you change the interrogation antenna on the BO (+Y side) so it can gimbal around a cardan joint? It can gimbal 10° towards the docking port, and 190° towards the engine, as well as +/- 10° to the side.

This gimballing is important, since the Soyuz does a sideway velocity correction during automatic rendezvous, during which the gyro-stabilized antenna keeps on tracking the passive vessel while the spacecraft rotates perpendicular to the orbit plane.

On my end, I'm only missing proper solar panel animations. I've got all the groups identified and for now I'm doing a simple scale animation on them. Not good enough for release in my opinion.

Besides that, the periscope is retractable for reentry, there's a very basic parachute and also the small landing engine on the reentry module.
I've got OK, OKS, T and T-AF configured and launchable.

Besides that, if someone what's to help with RCS placement and detailed animations, I'm all for it. I guess the info (coordinates and mesh groups) will be the same for both my sc3 basic version and for the custom .dll version.

that's interesting and appears to be a variation of the older configuration where both cams were located on the BO (as in the OK-M...)

ok, so which -BO meshes should receive the new IGLA models? and what about the IGLA(s) on the PAO(s)?

also, for the record, you're asking me to increase detail on a model, which of course i'm always happy to do(& alas for my poor modeling skills that can't get the job done more efficiently)...!
