Project Ultimate Project ISS for Orbiter

Well, were thinking or releasing in "stages". IE. Stage 1 would be Zarya launch, to, say, Quest installation. Then Stage 2, etc.

Hi

I want to say this about the install package. We are having trouble finding people who can help with some of the higher level tasks. I think an install package is a extra that we do not really need to spend time on. Like the long list of things that is wanted it should be placed on a features wish list.
I have said this before about features there really is nothing that we can't do, but if we do not limit scope this project will go under. I am holding up on my work because I want to burn out. I am using this time to look at the Microsoft speech sdk and learn some new things. I also hope to finish the p3p4 with in a week or so.

What will we be using for the Soyuz/Progress/ATV? Will it be the ones off Mustard's site or will you be making your own?

We will only use in house models or models that are prepped by Thorton. Thorton knows what needs to be done to get a model ready for coding. I have come to this decision because not all mesh files are in a format that allows meshc to generate a header file. We have enough modelers to get the job done so I do not see this as an issue.

I am looking to record actual air-con sounds from the Real ISS. I have a good video where it can be heard - I think I have the same one as you, Moonwalker, so yes, if you are offering any files, we would gladly accept them. Thanks!!!.

I just want to remind the team that if something is copyright protected we can't use any part of that media. I am not sure about this sound pack thing. I can tell you what I know and that is that our sounds will have to be coded. Orbiter sound has a nice sdk so this is not an issue. Also know this Orbiter sound has a wave format that needs to be used so that the sound will play.

ORBITERSOUND 3.5 SDK

Wave Format

Orbiter sound is locked at 22050 hz for performance care so it's useless
to load sound that have higher frequency.
For size's care I suggest a format of 11025 8 bit mono for radio and other minor sound
and more until 22050 for sound that require higher quality. Stereo play well also
but they require double size. Try to keep size as low as possible otherwise loading
time will become very long.
WARNING: take care that your wave doesn't have an ADPCM format the old compressed format
this one will not play on most computer due to codec.
instead always Use PCM the default windows format.
A quick read of the orbiter sound sdk documentation would answer a lot of questions for whoever is making our sound files. The sdk is included in the Orbiter sound download.

Thank you Dan for a fine add on and a complete sdk that is easy to understand. I think people forget just how much work you put into this add on.

Off topic but I had another question. Are you going to be adding the STS and Soyuz missions to the add on? Or work the SSU?

On topic what if you did an installation package and a winrar file?

As far as insallation goes I think an archive will do just fine. If we find an easy way to make an installer (the emphasis being on easy) then I see no reason why we can't have both.

CALLING ALL CODERS!

OK, team update: RussH has left the ISSU project due to an issue involving not enough research getting done.
That is fixed now, management will now do research.

Everything else is still on, so we need another good coder!

It would be OK to have multiple coders.

So please, if you think you can help, post below.

But before you offer your help, please consider the following.

1. Are you good enough? We want to include some very advanced systems, like in the XR2. Oxygen, power generation, keyboard controlled movement, sun tracking solar arrays that generate power, click-action interactive interiors etc. If think this is above your level, then, while your help would still be useful for less challenging tasks, there is little point volunteering for that level of work.

2. Time. Please say how much time you would be willing to give on this project?

3. Knowledge. Do you have a good understanding of the ISS and spaceflight (although ISSU will provide all research needed)

You need to be able to really commit to this, it is a 1 year + project of hard coding!

Thank you,

ISSU team:)

GOOD CODERS?

Hello all.

Would you say, or do you know someone that is, a good coder?

If you do, or if you are, could you rate them/yourself please?

L1=Basic
Basic coding skills-animations, etc.

L2=Intermediate coder
Am OK on some basic systems coding

L3=Good coder
Am good at a lot of things in orbiter, good skills at systems

L4=Excellent coder
Can do most things in Orbiter well, excellent on systems

L5=Legendary coder
Hard math skills, able to do everything possible in Orbiter, have no problems doing anything

We are just trying to identify who would be a suitable candidate for the coding work on ISSU?

Everyone I can think of is probably busy, but maybe other people know people that are good at coding that I haven't thought of?

Please, anyone know or interested, please post below with your level

Thank you:)

-ISSU tea,

Everyone I can think of is probably busy, but maybe other people know people that are good at coding that I haven't thought of?
To paraphrase a popular quote:

"Coders are like parking spaces, all the good ones are taken" ;)

Don't worry Kyle, if you still want it, there is work for you:speakcool:

heyo,
its davewave, author of mission control.
count me in.
will it be ummu compatible? :rofl:
I can code, would you be at all interested in me creating a mission control specifically for monitoring all of the systems aboard the ISS?

if you do this properly, you can embed code in the ISS that simulates environment, food, water, astronauts life signs....

or, you can assign me a task specifically for the ISS itself. let me know

Hey davewave.

I have sent you PM.

YES!

All your ideas are great, you are surely in the project if you want it:)

(p.s., sorry this thread has gone a bit quiet, but ISSU certainly has not been quiet, we have all been busy organising a lot of things. THE PROJECT IS 100% STILL ACTIVE):)

Hi all,

Sorry for not replying sooner, I have been busy:P

I guess it's OK to announce this now:

Me, The Aviator, Thorton & Xmariox are now working on ISSU. We are now going to release in stages - i.e. a few missions at a time. At first we will release all exteriors, then once we have done that, we will go back & add interiors + the interactive interior systems.

First release should be soon now:)

I will PM all team with some info soon - don't worry;)
