Whats the differnce between internal and external engine settings beside the obvious given by there names

OO i figured out why its was busted the scenario i was using was an old one but yeah i finally can take this thing for a spin

YAY!! im stuck on the ground cause I'm an idiot who can't get the engines to start i get them to spool but they inevitably go back down. I know I've properly over looked some super simply thing but any help would be appreciated id love a manual tho mentioning all the ins and outs of the ship
