Yeah, I ran into the same thing. Watched snorklemonkey's tutorial up until the reentry portion where he essentially tells you to punch a few things into autofcs and watch it handle everything, then read that autofcs isn't working with 4.7 yet, THEN burned up in the atmosphere.

I ran into the same problem and actually tried adding songs to the playlist using Winamp, and still couldn't get anything other than the default track. Eventually I realized that through modern computing i could tab out of Orbiter, play my music through iTunes as per usual, and tab back in.

Yeah I don't know. I wasn't so much trying to explain why the destruction should or shouldnt happen, just to isolate what setting is causing it.

For those of you following this with interest, The DGIV2 release doesn't seem to perform the same way when opening the canopy under 0 pressure and O2. I've gotten destruction each time ive tried it. Maybe it's got something to do with temp.

Yeah. An ars technica reviewer put it best when he said that he'll generally leave his house with his laptop and his phone, since each performs functions that the other can't, and this 3rd device doesn't eliminate the need for either.

I just gave this a go and was able to put a DGIV down safely. I waited until just before touchdown to lower the gear, and by that time i couldnt have been going more than 20-25 m/s. The atmosphere was like gel! On landing I was even able to EVA one of the crew. the hull temp alarm did go off...
