You said it all! I am with you

I don't think there is any need for any alterations to XR's flight control related systems/autopilots. All it needs are a few more gauges to make it more complicated. Ntg should be added to the AP. Its maneuverability are already unprecedented.

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

Lets address this issue, from an engineering point of view then. First of all, shuttle was designed in 1971. It ain't exactly current, even as compared to today's standard. In 1993, NASA has already started its development on the usage of electric actuators on flight control surfaces...

You are absolutely right. Hydraulics are definitely much heavier than electric powered actuators.

That's what I am trying to say there. :)... But if we were to replace APU fuel, totally, with batteries, and its switch with batteries powering actuators that moves everything that is currently based on hydraulics, that would save a fair bit of codings.

Perhaps it is so tiny, that it can barely create enough energy for computers and lightings. Plus, that will explain the need for coolants, since heat is generated, and this heat needs to be dissipated. :tiphat:

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

First of all, if I recall correctly, XR2 uses something called Naquadiah reactor to provide electrical power to the system, computers, LSU, lights, and etc. APUs is used only for hydraulic system (almost everything that moves), as it is supposed be the most efficient way to move them. I am...

Yes, I have to agree with you when you state that you can manually 'complicate' things. However, things like, shutting down the engine (so that, when anyone touch the throttle, it won't move forward) or, shutting down the life support system, so that, you don't need to use the ventilation system...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

I have no doubt that the 2D panel is pretty good as it is. But I would like to see more of DGIV "non-crucial" flight systems. Cabin condition systems, and startup and shutdown procedures (with systems). I have found myself to be obsessed with XR2's flying capabilities and DGIV complexity of...

Though I have to say that I would like to see a more sophisticated 2D panel for the mkII, but, I would still say this is gonna be the best ship in orbiter.

That sounds like a very good idea.

Coolhand, Your model looks extremely pretty at this point of time. It is so complete that I feel like its more than ready to be released. Great model. Love it.

Sorry for the detail-less report of the issue. cheers, eric sim

No1. The reversing works, when pitch is turned off, APU is on. When both is ON, then weird reversing behaviour shows. To answer your question, DGIV works.
