thanks for answering those questions and thanks again for all your help!
Keep up the good work and congrats for developing such a unique orbiter interface!
hmmm its funny, I tried it again just now and for some reason opening the file directly using java still doesn't seem to work. However using your method with command prompt still brings up the window. The odd thing is that maybe I haven't left it long enough or my computer is a bit busy...
hey!
The first time I tried it I must have minimised it or something inbetween checking the window because after entering the string into command prompt a window did come up but appeared completely transparent. However I just tried it again and I think it worked! The GUI came up and a couple...
hmm this is a bit weird...
When I try to open the java.exe in the bin file a command window does open up, some text flashes onto the window and then the window closes, all in a very short amount of time. No java icon appears in the bottom right-hand system try either. I managed to take an ok...
that seems to make sense, however for some reason my computer has not recognised a default program for the .jar file. I have used the Open With window and tried a number of the applications in the java folder but have not been able to open the file with one that starts up a small GUI window...
ok thanks that seems to make things a bit simpler.
However I am still a little confused about getting OrbConnect to work. I have downloaded Java and installed it. I have also enabled the OrbConnect Module in the Orbiter launchpad but I am not really sure what I need to do to access OrbConnect...
hey guys,
I have been trying to install OrbConnect to my computer to test it out and was having a bit of trouble with it all. I am sure I am just missing a step somewhere but I have been following the instructions for the Java client setup. It says:
Now I have downloaded the file specified in...
thanks very much for all your help, I will have a look at those things you mentioned and maybe have a chat with the NASSP guys about it in further detail.
Thanks again!
Kristian
I hadn't realised that... clever!
so if you were using toggle switches, would that mean that the switch is constantly sending the state signal (or in this case 1 of the 2 pushbuttons for the switch) to the computer? Is that how it works? Or that the computer registers all the pushbuttons...
hmmm yes I have had a look at AutoHotKey but unfortunately ran into a few problems. With NASSP for example there were two key problems. Firstly, whenever I press a specific programmed key combination in AHK there seems to be a slight time delay between pressing the key and orbiter actually...
hey,
I have been entertaining the idea of building an orbiter simpit for some time and I has decided that one of the easiest ways of interfacing switches etc is through a keyboard encoder that responds to particular keyboard shortcuts.
While this would currently work fine for many common...
hey,
While I personally don't have a simpit as yet I have been doing a bit of thinking about it, so I will share my own view.
From what I can see, creating a system that would allow the computer to automatically detect the position of a switch when orbiter is started up would be kinda...
hmmmm...interesting
I suppose the main disadvantage of AutoHotKey is in some situations, 3 or 4 position switches are used (as in the NASSP Apollo CM), and (at least on my computer) the time delay between pressing the shortcut key and the mouse clicking on the switch varies. Therefore if I...
Hey guys,
great work everyone - it is an awesome thread!
I have been thinking about starting to build a simpit also, so all this stuff is riveting!
davewave - as a aussie also I know Jaycar electronics supply a wide range of electrical stuff here... but if you are looking for something of an...
