General Question moving celestial bodies with a motor?

The problems in reality are clear to me, but in Orbiter those real-life problems making the venture a no go wouldn't be a factor I guess, since I can give a tiny motor a gigantic thrust value if i want to. So the only show stopper is the built-in thing that prevents this custom celestial body...

General Question moving celestial bodies with a motor?

Turning a celestial body into a "huge spaceship" sounds like fun, so I was wondering if it is possible to point a (strong enough) motor to the sky and move earth for example, or are celestial bodies on some "internal-rails" within orbiter?

    Humor Random Comments Thread

actually ... i'd love to try that :p is it possible to move a celestial body in orbiter or are they locked on some internal rails?

Project OGLA Linux Thinclient proof of concept

I was gonna write a post about how I like this thread because it's about a realistic solution, not some wishful thinking or something based on unfunded assumptions ... well I won't do that (:p) but instead i write this: That approach is awesome.

    Dangerous rockets

KNO3 (german: Kaliumnitrat / (Kali-)Salpeter) with Sugar is the most common hobby propellant afaik. But forget about having fun with rockets here in germany, laws are pretty tight.

    Gaming Anyone try FlightGear?

I never used, and don't plan to use Orbiter as a flight simulation. In Orbiter it's the pysics of spaceflight I'm interested in and to enjoy that I don't need ATC. One could make a point that for spaceflight there's radio contact with mission control and things like that and I'm pretty sure that...

    Gaming Anyone try FlightGear?

For me, flight simulation is all about having it as real as possible, which means having a human ATC in my ear. Flightgear doesn't give me the possibility to join established networks like VATSIM and IVAO, so therefore I do not enjoy Flightgear. Having read through a lot of stuff about why there...

    Question What are you reading?

Well, to be honest, right now I'm more into "Fundamentals of Physics (Extended)" by Halliday, Resnick, and Walker than into the novel i mentioned above. I'm sure many of you know that one, but there's something confusing about the version I have on my table ... the one I got from the University...

Poll Top 5 Space Exploration Movies

The Astronaut Farmer is really good, like that one a lot. Apollo 13 is one of my all time favorites. Armageddon is fun, but I wouldn't put it on that list, it feels like one of those 'which item doesn't belong into the picture' things ;) From The Earth To The Moon is a must see for every...
