GATOR Assembly 2015-06-21

GATOR assembly was installed on theColumbus module, flight-day 6 during STS-129.GATOR is part of a projectto demonstrate two different types ofAutomatic Identification System receivers,which is an existing system that’s currentlyused by ships and United States Coast Guard’sVessel Traffic Services to exchange data such asidentification of the ships, their purpose, courseand speed. The assembly also includes anantenna used for HAM radio.The GATOR assembly includes two antennas, acable harness and two clamps. The antennas weresecured with two bolts apiece.
