Updates New boy around the Red Planet - the 2013 Indian Mars Orbiter update thread!

Yes, that looks like a mushroom cloud seen from an oblique angle. BUT, an image sensor is usually pointed at nadir. So it would be looking at the mushroom cloud top-down, not from the side. So even if a mushroom cloud was there, that's now how it would look. So to me it looks like a crater...

More to the point, in Orbiter interaction between mesh and code is done only through SDK API which means that the legal tests for derived work will fail.

Nonsense. Read both the license and the law. Mesh is not code. See RedHat/CentOS for prior example of combining non-GPL artwork with GPL code.

Hi Xyon, The current problem on OH is that there is a ton of add-ons which don't have specified any distribution terms. It would be very beneficial to give uploaders a choice of standard licenses like this: - ( ) public domain - authorship acknowledgement: ( ) MIT ( ) CC-BY - copyleft: ( )...

Installed Windows 10 and started Orbiter. I've found that Orbiter dialog boxes don't have the "x" displayed on them, but they do close if I click where the "x" should be:

Oh, neither did I. But you have correctly identified that there is a problem with license of SDK samples. Now: what about trying to fix this?
  19. kamaz

License Wars MEGA THREAD (now with GPL!)

And all it would take to fix this is ask Mr. Schweiger to issue license clarification for SDK samples. Why don't you go ahead and do this instead of arguing with me? We're both under civil law, actually. And copyright law in basic aspects is the same everywhere.

License Wars MEGA THREAD (now with GPL!)

But that has nothing to do with GPL. I'm responsing to the argument that GPL should not be used for Orbiter add-ons, because linking to the non-free core causes non-compliance with the GPL. My answer to that is: even if it were causing non-compliance (which I stronly doubt), so what? If it's...
