    Updates Boeing's CST-100 Starliner

Was a two-main-shute landing planned, or did the third one fail to deploy?

The local heli operator used to bring the technicians on the initial check-out flight, if they'd worked on the engine/drive train/controls. IDK if that procedure survived the merger with the national airline.

Printers are really bad at reading minds. The other day I was printing a technical drawing for a crew(an A1 size floor plan), and I thought I had selected all the correct settings. When I hit [Print] I got a 19x38mm "drawing" from the label printer.

Russia bird strike: 23 injured after plane hits gulls and crash-lands

Very few planes do emergency landings with full tanks because the check-list tells them to dump the fuel. Lately we've had a few that suffered engine failure during take-off or climb-out that found somewhere flat to ditch. I can't remember any case where the plane staid intact if the tanks were...

Russia bird strike: 23 injured after plane hits gulls and crash-lands

Another case where the wings staid attached, just like the Hudson River crash landing. I wonder if dumping fuel is the correct thing to do before emergency landings. It looks like full wing tanks is having an effect on the structural integrity.

News Silver Spitfire. Coming to an airport near you.

He flew over a few villages here to show the plane. IMHO way too high because he was worried about the noise. (yep, he actually called it noise. Not good!!) If I had VMC and a Spitfire, I would not spend much time on the ground.

It was not listed under arrivals today, so I missed it. (I'm about 1 hour away from the airport) Link:

Keeping a plane that old in the air for four months straight is not a small feat.

The tracking data on the spitfire is slow/intermittent. The "follower" plane landed in Iceland this evening. I'd like more news on their website. It looks like the Spitfire is still in Scotland.

It looks like they ran into some trouble on the first leg today. The follower plane (OY-THP) has landed back in Scotland. I can't find any tracking data for the Spitfire. If they're looking for better weather, they can be in for a long wait.

I suspect that option b) will have to do for now. I don't think passengers will do the training to the extent necessary to produce any significant results.

Unfortunately that is a part of the human firmware that we aren't getting rid of anytime soon. Panic makes people fall back onto old habits.
