Updates SpaceX DM-1 capsule lost during static fire test

This might actually be good for SpaceX in the long run. Imagine if this happened with a crew on board. I do think Elon is pushing too hard to get the crew dragon flying. I've heard that the Apollo-1 fire most likely saved the whole Moon landing project. If they didn't re-design the capsule...

Humor Life of Brian, Forty years old.

Actually, the best bits are missing. And I'm of course referring to "We are all individuals" and "Are you a virgin?"

Is it just me that finds it weird that people would cut out certain 'bits' out of this footage, considering what else is available on the internet?

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

Yes. Those wind autopilots have all the complexity above water. There are several models on the market. (Wow! How did we this far off-topic again?)

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

We used to call them Sex-in-a-hammock-ideas. It's a good idea in theory, but in reality almost totally impractical.

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

You don't need to balance the forces perfectly. If you place some of the rudder area in front of the axis, it will lower the power output needed in the steering gear. Exactly! Furthermore, the maintenance cost of underwater moving parts is very high. Flap rudders were always rare, and have...

News Ethiopian 737 crashed on way to Kenya, 157 people on-board

I don't think servo- or trim tabs are used on ship rudders. It's much easier to put the rudder axis closer to the center of pressure. Becker flap rudders have sort of "flaps" to increase efficiency (especially at large deflection/slow speed). But those work in the opposite direction to servo...

Two ships in distress west of Norway

I wish that I could find the NRK footage of the tanker I started my career on, sailing through that area. That video made me feel slightly sick when I saw it, and I was on board when it was filmed. No. Passenger ships have stabilization systems that are good enough to leave everything just...

Two ships in distress west of Norway

How did they manage that? All cruise ships I've seen had at least one layer of redundancy, most had triple or more. One even had two completely separate engine rooms (mirrored).

Replacing a 'giant' like him and still come over as natural is indeed rare, but IMHO they got as close as you can with this one. :tiphat:
