Yeah, it's less damage than I thought at first. Seems to be just the very tip of the wing. Still, though... it's the damn space shuttle you just knocked into a pier...
Pretty sure the PICA-X shield can be used for dozens of times on reentry with only minor degradation.
And, the shuttle was very far from 100% reusable, but that's not something for this topic.
The best way I've found is to use a telescope or binoculars (with one side covered) to project an image of the sun onto something. No modifications necessary, so no extra cost.
I think I read somewhere that it would use APAS, so it could dock with the existing PMAs?
But perhaps that was a misidentification of LIDS in a rendering somewhere...
You aren't putting yourself into a retrograde solar orbit, merely cancelling out some of Earth's orbital velocity to bring your periapsis lower to meet Venus.
