If I could do the easy way out, then I would delete everything, delete every add-on I don't find useful, and then try over again. I just hope I didn't mess anything up in the old one if I do delete and re-do everything.
And thanks for the help with the fV and the pV, but could see what I could...
Here's what happens in order when I change the configuration settings of the XR2 Ravenstar to what the playback supposedly needs to play correctly:
First of all, the program freezes for a few seconds (the clocks stop completely).
Then the game then quickly goes into the 10,000x time frame...
Is there anything I am missing from IMFD that I can't do elsewhere?
So far, I only used IMFD to go to the moon, and try to understand what goes on in the tutorial. But here's the problem. I want to go to Mars but the playback of "Earth to Mars" crashes every time it goes into time acceleration...
Not crash the whole program, but makes it VERY unstable as soon as time acceleration goes on. This is the manual that contains the tutorial: IMFD Full Manual/Playbacks
To make the playback function properly, I had to change the properties of the XR2 Ravenstar to have these properties...
Let me guess. You synced Mars' intercept plane on Earth's map, and then created your very own Hohmann transfer by orbiting the Sun using nothing but the Surface and Orbit MFDs, massive amount of prograding and retrograding to get to Mars' distance from the Sun that way, and then waiting months...
It's been awhile (2 months maybe?) since I last posted here or played Orbiter. I know I can orbit Earth, go to the Moon (first time I went was a REALLY unorthodox method, by burning prograde until I reached 0 eccentricity, and I still have NO idea how I still managed to get there...) the Sun...
I meant that I could use IMFD 5.3 and 4.2.1 to go to the Moon from the Earth, but I want to know how to get back to the Earth from the Moon.
Those two videos still confused me even after watching them several times. Partly because I don't know what he meant by dV when all I see is oV and iV and...
Also, another question. Is going from the Moon to the Earth simply burning prograde at the opposite side of the Moon than the Earth? I have a feeling that if I don't align the planes, it won't work out smoothly...
Thank you. I'll try that once I master the Lunar orbit transfer, and if I find a scenario that starts on Olympus Base. But then again, I need to work on landing that means something other than crashing into the object (which shouldn't be too hard).
EDIT: So I did land "correctly" on Jupiter...
What would you want to IAU to reclassify most? We all remember the controversy over Pluto being a Dwarf Planet along with Eris and Ceres 3 years ago, but there was something always bothering me about something. The IAU was more concerned about planets than moons.
I would love the IAU to have...
Still confusing as the tutorial on how to get to Phobos does things differently than going to the moon. I used IMFD to go to the Moon for the third time today, but I still have no clue how to use it to do anything else. Then again, I still don't know how to land at all, and each attempt at me...
Europa is still the most favorable moon for habitability other than The Moon.
But if there IS extraterrestrial life on it, then say hello to new diseases. Maybe landing there isn't such a good idea afterall...
I went to the Moon again, but this time following the exact instuctions in the IMFD tutorial. I was shaking like crazy and was scared out of my mind when I saw that the ship in Auto Burn was going to the moon's surface fast. I was freaked out when I saw both the altitude and the time to burn...
He obviously meant ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US.
Anyway, the most habitable place outside of Earth is 50 miles above Venus' surface. If we can manage to get a floating city of some kind that collects breathable air in some sort of giant balloon, then all that is needed is protection from acid...
It's harder than it looks. A LOT harder than it looks.
I accidentally slingshotted myself out of Earth system., and at another time I missed the Earth completely. Maybe I could go there by burning retrograde instead of prograde extensively...
