You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

btw, I know this poem is a bit corny. It's supposed to be. I'm really wondering if anyone used this on their girlfriend or wife and if it worked or not. It should work on some chicks. :)

You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

Try this: You are Venus and I am Mars A love of no small feat Up aloft among the stars Upon the earth we meet Take my hand and my heart For the enormous ISP Will blast us off, a change of course Errr...can't forget the delta V You are my shining star That means the worlds to me Optional...

You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

When on a camping trip you use orbiter to find constellations you hadn't been able to find (or hadn't had a chance to look for) before in the real sky. Especially when you didn't plan on doing that or knew you had your computer with you in the first place.

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

As you have reiterated through the whole thread. Live a little! I can still be able to do this. You probably have a huge rocket in your front yard....sheesh. Learn to live outside the rocket! ;) I want to be able to do this for a particular function where rockets won't work! Outside the...

    General Question multi-/hyperthreading

I thought it had four cores and 16 threads. Or did they up it? I think they have 2 socket mobos and notebooks now. ---------- Post added at 06:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 AM ---------- I'm not even sure I'd want it to be multi-core. I have a 900 mhz celeron single core...

    General Question multi-/hyperthreading

I was reading that most current VC supports threading just has to be compiled so. so that is 1 reason I was asking and then because things are getting more complicated. But I was pretty sure damn small linux.......ah I mean orbiter was not big enough to use more than one core.

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

It could just be a really good texture that barely quivers back and forth while an invisible mesh in the background doing all the work. plus with a mesh you can assign more than one airfoil to it so with every revolution you could have an "x" as many airfoils working at the same time...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

Yeah I was thinking that actually. I'd have to look at the problem and maybe figure it out. I still am working on my airfoil analysis and all that. I don't even know when I'll be done with that. It could be some kind of animation. Just so you know I never expected for anyone to ACTUALLY do...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

I just looked it up in the dictionary and you are right. I guess I just never have heard the term used in anything other that in rockets, and assumed the use in aviation was an oversimplification. When I was talking about it not using thrust I was thinking in terms of the simulator anyway and...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

Oh, I see how you guys are looking at it. Thanks Tommy. I can respect that. I wonder if aviation uses it like that for simplicity or for a standard for instruction or if that is something which is standard in Physics as well. Well just so know you could probably make a propeller in orbiter...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

Yes, I was talking about using them as auxiliry. ---------- Post added at 07:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 PM ---------- As I understand "thrust" it means you are using a fuel or propellent and using that fuel or propellent to cause particles to exit at high velocity. With...

    General Question multi-/hyperthreading

Hello, I wanted to ask if orbiter has multi-thread support, will have multi-thread support, or just doesn't really need it because of the size of the program. It is just a case of curiosity... nothing urgent here.

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

That's true. But they could be detachable. I was wondering because this made me think of my idea of using them for jupiter and such...so I asked if they existed. You could use them for flights like going into venus and such. ---------- Post added at 05:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

Propellers don't use thrust. They use lift. Therefore a 0-thrust propeller is not useless.

General Question Is a random scenario generator possible?

Isn't that what parameters are for? I don't mean the ones that will be randomized. The parameters of the parameters with regard to the rules dictating the chaos. ;) The parameters of chaos. ---------- Post added at 04:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:58 PM ---------- Isn't that...

General Question Venus Landing in XR2?

Do we have a propeller you might see on a deep sea diving vessel? No thrust except churning water or atmosphere? Just to get started and out of the bind. Could use it on one of the gas giants like Jupiter too.

    Venus Rover

You could make the heat sink semi-thermo-conductive so instead of dissipating heat quickly it could actually build heat up until it reached a temperature higher then the outside air. You could have it connected to a conductive piece that has no way of dissipating heat directly to the air and is...

    Venus Rover

Well, the carbon dioxide has the oxygen all we need to bring is the hydrogen....but seriously...did this all have to lead into terratransforming? Yes, obviously venus has more problems then just the carbon dioxide. BUT at least our probes wouldn't melt within 5 milliseconds. Which is why I...
