I already do something like that in collaboration, and because I have the SSU mindset too deep in my bones. Believe me: You don't want to do that. It is 99% paperwork (study, system engineering, calculations) to get the behavior some sort of plausible. Also, such a project is like a iceberg, every tiny visible progress is produced by endless lines of code below the waterline.
For most work on Orbiter addons you require countless of hours of research and tweaking and most features added into addons don't really require a lot of man power to create.
I just spent like a week writing a function for OBSP that predicts the landing position of dumb bombs when dropped from an airplane. The trick was to do my math, choose the algorithm, create a bomb module / config system that all bombs can be based on, then tweak and optimize the algorithm to include supersonic effects and to actually get any usable accuracy out of it. AFter that was done, I tied the function into the autopilot instruction that does the bombing run. I can say from my experience that having 100 more people working on the problem really wouldn't make it any faster...
