A Windy Day at KORD

good stuff!! When I was a kid I used to sneak through the gates and actually get on the planes that were just sitting there waiting for passengers! This was back in the late 70's. Security was pretty lax then and the worst that ever happened was I got thrown off the plane. Oft times maintenance or a pilot or a stewardess or official would come by and just be curious. It helped that I had my mickey-mouse camera and a professional canon too! a good combo! these were like dc-10's and 727's and stuff like that.

That sounds like great fun! In the 90's when I was a young one, my dad would take me up right to the gate to see the United 727's, 757's, and 747's. That of course is not possible now due 9/11 security restrictions (for good reason I suppose), but seeing the heavies on short final is still something special.

Great pictures - do you use a DSLR? I don't do much spotting myself, but I sometimes hang around the small airport close to my house, and get close up to some nice Citation jets at the airport I do flying lessons at (I also got to look inside one - it just smells of success in there!). I was lucky to be standing literally right next to the runway when a Citation Encore came roaring past on full power - that was really something! I also like looking out for aircraft I have been on, specifically the Boeing 767 G-DIMB of Monarch airlines at Manchester airport - it is Monarch's only 767 (so you know it when you see it) and it has taken me on my best holidays ever, to places like the Maldives and Canada, so it's really nice to see it going places after you have been on it.
