Angry Birds Space

Here's a video that NASA recently uploaded to YouTube:

Nice way to teach kids science.
Now, don't expect a 3-year old child to recite Newton's Third Law!

Seriously, though, I think this is a very good way to expose millions of young people to physics & space exploration! :tiphat:

~Let's have a nice discussion, Oz.

I love this Angry Birds version ! Where can I buy it ? lol
It's a good video for explain orbital physics !

Indeed it is!
It is supposed to be released on March 22nd as far as I remember.

Hopefully this will teach people that you don't need to fire your engines constantly to stay in orbit :P

Whoa, SO TRUE! Every time someone ask me I go:  and then explain that getting to orbit is a "1-time investment"
C'mon people, I knew it when I was 10 years old! :D

Angry Birds Space

Did anyone try the Angry Birds Space version. What are your thoughts on it.

angry birds

I did..downloaded it on my phone and it is great :D

Looks kinda fun, but unfortunately the iPad version is $2.99, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. (I've always thought Angry Birds was a little stupid, compared to other iDevice games)

I love how it uses orbiting physics. Seems pretty accurate, what do you guys think?

The "atmosphere = sphere of influence" restriction seems a bit arbitrary. Also, I haven't played very far into it, but I've not seen any objects actually orbiting yet.

Space

I completed it and it is ok..I did not manage to put something into orbit and I doubt it is possible..

The gravity fields I believe allow for a bit of friction, in order to not get the game stuck forever with an orbiting bird. Still, fun game!

Okay, I've downloaded it and I have to say that I am IMPRESSED!
Never have I seen such an entertaining game that doesn't really insult my physical intellect! (;

Well I don't know due to what, but they do simulate decay.

Downloaded it for my iPod 4g. Its a little unstable and tends to crash but maybe that's just me. Other than that its a great game.
