Hi,im new to Orbiter,my install is running on an 8yr old system xpsp3(from a new western digital ext drive) with latest
direct x and drivers.Ive patched the install with 11115 beta.(
The problem is,the Delter glider particularly(most noticeably in atmospheric flight) doesn't turn properly.(pitch switches from plane control panel don't work either)

If i use the space 1999 hawk for instance i can turn fine, take of and land etc,but the glider moves up and down fine but cant be turned i think everything is set up correctly and im used to plane controls from my misoft flight sim.
Is their anything i can try or is it a matter of getting a joystick and/or waiting for a newer system?(coming soon):)
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks:tiphat:

That's weird.
The Delta Glida flies as any other spacecraft. You must click on the rotational knob labeled SHIP CTRL over the left MFD. Try both left/right clicks.

Thanks Ripley
Thats what i thought
ive tried your suggestion different ways, the plane moves up and down freely but wont turn,if i manage to align to KSS runway say
i cant get enough control to even get right on the runway, the ship just drifts and wont respond.I have a msoft sim and can put the biplanes nd Learjet down ok?

i dont have another system at present to test on ,maybe ill just have to wait.
My girlfriend has a few games, some that run badly(Harry Potter)
and it struggles with the flying bits although my sim works fine?go figure.
Any ideas welcome, ill be upgrading system to win 7 soon so ill fix it that way if nothing else:)

Is this the default delta-glider or an addon version?

What keys are you using to turn the DG?

Do you have any joysticks or game controllers attached?

Hi garyw,
im using the default, its the same wth all the others in atmospheric flight,no joystick or gc used.
Im trying to use 2,8 4,6 1,3 as per manual.
If i lift the nose she rockets up,if i lower the nose she flies down. When i try and turn theres a small amount if movement and she drifts back again or turning is so slow i cant lock on to anything.
Ive fiddled with the afc button, rotation on and off etc, nothing makes much difference.
maybe this computer is no good for gaming?

I assume you try to turn it with 1 and 3 keys (yaw). Try using roll (4, 6) along with pitch instead of yaw. Steering DeltaGlider just with yaw is hard in atmospheric flight.

Your computer isn't the problem.

Your computer isn't the problem.

You mean..er..it could be the idiot using it?

Actually thats the keys ive been using-im at a loss,i dont know enough about the program really, but im sure the controls arent working properly.
Fr instance if i run a landing senario and use the keys you suggest i cant even
get close to the runway,it just drifts of.i could be the worlds worst pilot but i fly the lear jet in my flight sim with no problem?
My girlfriend has a harry potter game with a flying dragon and she cant turn the dragon the way its supposed too,it just sticks when it should move.
im going to test orbiter on another computer and see what the difference is:)

Turn off "Atmospheric wind effects" on Parameters tab of the Orbiter launchpad.

I didn't say that. I only said that your computer isn't the problem.

Turn off "Atmospheric wind effects" on Parameters tab of the Orbiter launchpad.

Yup i tried that.thanks anyway.
Some of the scenarios when i run them do strange things,
like i run delter flyer at KSS nd it opens up and the plane immediately blasts up into space in a nanno second and expolodes which i know it shouldnt do.
The Vanguard does that all the time since i patched to beta?
So something isnt working.
The computermebob is well maintained and properly set up and virus free but its aging
I have typhoon on a brand new ext drive but it wont play on this system either
just ctd immediately. While msf sim just bumbles along happily?

Ill persist with orbiter cos its a brilliant program, ill run on another computer
and see what the dff is and i have a mate that runs a computer bis i might
get to have a look.I might virus check but i just ran the sys through a
computer forum fr virus and it came up clean.

Thanks fr the suggestions, vry much appreciated. In the end ill set up a new install on a new system and go frm their if all else fails.
Thanks again:tiphat:

You have to use the normal arrow keys. Numpad keys control RCS system.
Did you check that before posting, or had you altered keymap.cfg some time ago and forgot about it? I can't reproduce controlling aerodynamic surfaces with normal arrow keys in the default config in Orbiter 111105.

Normal arrow keys are bound by default to 2D panel shifting. Numpad keys are used for both aerodynamic surfaces, fully if "AF CTRL" is turned "ON", and for controlling RCS if "RCS MODE" isn't turned "OFF".

Make sure the "AF CTRL" is set to "ON" (if it's set to "PITCH" you can only pitch up or down), and "RCS MODE" set to "OFF" while in atmospheric flight.

Sorry to interject, but thats what its doing,ie "AF CTRL" is "on", "RCS MODE" is
off but the plane acts as though the AF CTRL is set to "pitch" even though it isnt.Ie just goes up nd down.strange?
(Ive followed the manual v carefully too see if im missing something (i dont
think so))

Thanks fr taking a look guys i much appreciate you imput ,but dont drive yourself nuts with this,i can always set up again on another system fairly soon.:)
