Ok, I have to use orbiter 2010. The addons I want to use namely AMSO my favorite will not playball with the beta. I presume other addons wont either which is why I decided to stick with what works.

I ventured over to Dan steph's page and he has repackaged the compatible Ummu etc and effectively blocked their installation on 2010. After reading the work around he wants you to do I find out it still does not work. He wants you to manually install everything on orbiter 2010 by creating a fake Orbiter.exe file (via wordpad). Then take the files and place them by hand.

Well, I tried that. I tried putting the installation files directly in my orbiter directory with a no go. I dont understand why he would do something like this.. It stops me everytime with a invalid orbiter.exe Even using a copy of my actually orbiter.exe

Any ideas?

Orbiter 2010 is not beta. I think you mistake many things there.

I still have to test the performance of AMSO there, it is thinkable that it does not work with the client because of the "DEVMESH" interface being required. I also needed a longer evening to make some of my algorithms work on a graphics client.

That is completely bogus. I even use Ummu/UCGO on Orbiter NG with the DX9 client without any issues. And without any special installation procedure.

Orbiter 2010 as Orbiter build 100606?

AMSO 1.21, like also current version of UMMU are for Orbiter 100830 (2010-P1). You don't have to do anything special to install the package containing UMMU on Orbiter 2010-P1. And the current version of AMSO won't work with Orbiter 100606 (2010, without P1).

Have you downloaded UMMU etc for Orbiter 2006 by any chance, if so, that will give you the errors you have.
I agree on what you say regarding invalid file if you are trying to install the 2006 version into 2010. What I do is, make a new folder and call it whatever you like, copy and paste your Orbiter exe. and NG.exe files into the new folder. Then install into there. Then copy and paste into your Orbiter you are using.
Use the Xmas version, its for 2010 etc.

I have orbiter 2010 and the christmas release of UMMU, Arrow, DGIV, etc and they all work fine together. I never had to do any work arounds and the install certainly wasn't blocked.

As Kendo says, check you've got the right version.
