After finally understanding interplanetary travel (thanks ar81 and agentgonzo for the help:speakcool:). I prepared to depart to jupiter with descartes with IMFD. After i pressed AB to start the burn, IMFD was trying fix descartes attitude and i noticed that RCS were taking there time and I missed the launch window. Could someone tell if this is a characteristic of descartes or i did something wrong with IMFD.

When you are on a big ship, such Descartes, you must do attitude variations manually, because they are tuned to work properly with a small vessel like a Delta Glider, so, trying to achieve an high rotation velocity, they can't brake on time, due to the big mass (inertia) of the ship. So, if you are using IMFD, press the first button on the right (BV: Burn Vector) to see a cross, when it is in the middle of the small circle and it is white, you are pointing in the right direction, then press AB, and the ship will mantain the attitude with small RCS burns till the burn time, and you will not overshoot your launch window!
Have a good journey to Jupiter!

Is it possible to make the RCS thrusters more powerful? The slow rate of pitch, roll and yaw, isn't much fun. So let's make it three questions:

1) Is it possible to make them more powerful, for quicker movement along the axes?
2) If so, what file do I need to edit?
3) Is it realistic to expect a large ship to have powerful RCS thrusters, or would such movements throw the crew around violently?

I guess I don't care about the answer to number 3, as since we are already pretending the ship is built from diamond alloy or something, it's ok to pretend the RCS thrusters make the ship highly maneuverable without danger to the crew.

Last question - the LST docked in the Adam Smith at Phobos seems to have a problem with Translation Mode...pressing the 8 key normally would translate down, but instead it just executes a pitch down maneuver. Any ideas? I've downloaded/installed the patch...

Is it a spacecraft3 craft?

It is actually. Edit the thrust in the config file located in the spacecraft folder to suit your needs.

That is because you are docked. Your translation controls do not carry over into the other vessel. It's like having just you're aft thrusters fire instead of both.

Check out the new IMFD manual for instructions on how to adjust IMFD to take into consideration slower rotating craft like the Descartes or Vespucci D.

You may not have a structural failure, but in real life rotating a craft that size that quickly would smear your crew all over the bulkheads. With ships that size centrifugal force experienced near the ends of the vessel can be hundreds of Gs if you try to spin the craft as fast as a DG.
