Its great that people are still modding a game (I mean simulation), thats over ten years old.

So dig out your dusty cd, make a fresh install and run the ff5.exe.

Rumor has it you don't need the F4 cd anymore.

Can anyone confirm that? I'd be all over it if it were true. Been playing the old Falcon 3.0 since it is abandonware & economic crunch has kept me from investing in latest Falcon 4.0, although I played some of the original Falcon 4.0 back in the day.

You dont have to have the CD Installed it seems but for legal reasons you MUST own a copy of Falcon 4.

Right now even with the hotfix frankly its just too buggy in my view to commit to a long campaign. The stuff looks very good tho.

Been playing the old Falcon 3.0 since it is abandonware & economic crunch has kept me from investing in latest Falcon 4.0, although I played some of the original Falcon 4.0 back in the day.

I have both F3 and F4 (off the shelf, no mods).

F4 was definitely a huge improvement in graphics and simulation, but to be honest, F3 was a more fun game to play. The campaign mode was better, and there were third-party add-ons that let you basically command the entire war, ground forces as well as air. The best of these was called Strategic Falcon, and once you installed it you could launch ground assaults, plan entire air missions, and even fly other planes besides the Falcon, although the sim for those wasn't as good.

I used to love it. I'd pick a strategic target, plan a route for my B-52s to attack and egress, set up a SEAD mission of F-15s, an escort element of Falcons, and a fighter sweep. Then I would record the whole thing on the "gun camera" and watch the bombers dump tons and tons of bombs on the target. Meanwhile I set up an armored assault somewhere else on the board.
