Im new in this forum, but ive been playing orbiter for around 3 months or something in the like.

Now this thread is about a garrysmod (http://store.steampowered.com/app/4000/) Server, called Station12, That is doing realistic, and futuristic spacecrafting.
We are a small group of people who enjoy fiddling with electronics and other kind of funny things.

Q: Wait, so your are saying your BUILDING rockets?
A: Yes, garrysmod allows you to build anything you desire (with some limitations), it even has a electronic system called "Wire" which allows the use of gates, Cpu's, and screens!.

The reason im posting this thread is that there is'nt many space enthusiasts in the garrysmod community, so i hoped that by writing this thread, it would attract someone's attention.

The server has some very clear rules, if you break them you get warned, second time you break them its a kick out of the server.

Players that you might reckon on this server (so far): Woo482(Admin), and Me(Admin, Owner) are the only ones with a OF account so far.


Now for the practical information(this is for the people who already has Garrysmod((Gmod))):

every thing he says there is true (even the part about me being a Admin) but any way we do do a lot of realistic things there we have even tried to build the Space Shuttle, Apollo and also the International Space Station so if you own garrys mod just come along we are always looking for new members. also the ping is good I live in the UK and I only get a ping of 45.

Perhaps, I might look at it tonight, but I don't own any of the engines needed to run it, so I'd have to buy one.

Plus, you really can't wait 45 minutes and then bump your post...

sorry for the bump. and really the games are worth it the main games you need are counter strike source and Garry's mod but if you want a lot more stuff to mess around with get the orange box, counter strike source and Garry's mod

By coincidence I saw some SpaceBuild videos just the other day and was interested. It seems the SpaceBuild website doesn't exist anymore though. I don't have GMod but I do have just about every Valve game. (HL1 and HL2 (+episodes) as well as their mods) I want to get GMod soon though. SpaceBuild looks awesome from what I've seen and quite realistic.

actually its both. I hate "gaymod" from the start. and garry newman who is the creator of the mod is also the admin of the FP forums

actually you really dont understand how much grief these people have put me through. why dont you install and see for yourself. Im telling you, these people dont care for others. all they do is talk about how smart they are. the game has no skill at all and just rots your brain

No matter how bad the majority of gmod players are (what can you expect from a gaming community), theres always a good group if you know the right people.

Anyways, I used to play gmod until some capacitors on my old graphics card busted. My Geforce 5200 has a hard time running the game so now I typically stay away from it, but I'd love to join the server if I get the chance.

I haven't done much with the wire mod 'realistic' wise but I did make a vehicle that launched like a space shuttle, I even calculated the center of mass by hanging the vehicle from several points and using some measure tool to get the right thrust for the boosters. I think it moved correctly once but after duplicating it messed up. The awesome part was you had to reweld the tank and boosters (aka boxes of metal plates) every time you duplicated so it was sort of like setting up in the VAB.

Well that's one thing you can do with gmod, if anyone here has a source game I'd highly suggest getting gmod. If you don't like the community, avoid the masses. I've never posted in the facepunch forums and I got along fine when I played.

I hate "gaymod" from the start.

Ok first of all it's "Garrysmod", get it right. Secondly, it is an incredibly advanced mod using the source engine which makes the possibilities almost endless, and you shouldn't criticise the programming just because some of the users behave unacceptably, you will find that in every gaming community. Thirdly, stop being so ignorant.

I love Spacebuild, nothing is better than building interesting ships and stations, then blowing them up.

Unfortunately Gmod and the subsequent communities are populated by a blend of whiny 14-year-olds, developers/server runners with god complexes, and elitists who ***** at anyone that doesn't spend 15 hours building something out of cinderblocks and chairs.

It's great fun if you stick to playing by yourself, but the multiplayer community is just complete ****.

Oh, i see your worries people, i really do.

Well, to admit it: Yes, gmod community sucks, the most people are either ignorant, 10 years old, or just abusing their admin powers. But its like the internet:
On the internet you have a lot of choices, and there are places with 10 years old, and places with serious players, all you do is ignore the 10 years old, or atleast the one's acting foolish.

You know, nobody's forcing you, this is just another way to have fun with OF or non-OF friends in gmod.
Hell, if enough people will join ill make ya a welcoming tour if you want it.

About the multiplayer community:
It sucks, im not going to defend it, because it has fallen into the claws of 10 year old fanboys.
But me ,which has been playing for so much time, is trying to stop this by helping the community by making a server where everyone that acts nice(and mature) is allowed. (i just want to say one thing before you join: SAY YOU'RE FROM O-F!!, we have a very special ranking system which keeps most "mingebags"((term for newbs)) out of the server)

I don't know the Gmod community. But when I look at a few critics here, I think that the Orbiter community partly is not significantly different by one means or another.

The most pleasant communities I know of, with relatively high average ages, are a very few general aviation/- flight simulation communities. That may depend on the fact that nothing has to be created there. It is mostly just about professional payware flight simming (desktop and fixed base home simulator).

just like TasuiT said people who behave like "mingebags" get warned and if they do not listen to Me or another admin online we will ban them. we also restrict some of the things on the server so if a "mingebag" does come on they cannot do too much damage to what ever your building.
