International Docking Adapter, IDA-1, IDA-2, IDA-3

Well, I am making this docking adapter to the ISS. My project based on the IDA-1, sadly it wrecked like the Spx-7 mission. So, I don't like to continue with this project so long as second one will be launched.
The IDA-2 is planned to launch in December 9, 2015 on the Dragon.
NASA plans to build a third adapter.

Down below you can download and try it in Orbiter.

Here are some images what about I was working:

docking adapter

:hailprobe: I was thinking of building this myself. Looking good. Be nice to have it in advance of the launch so it can be latched on to my station. You know that at launch the adapter will be covered in white blanket insulation. So that's an easy texture. Can't wait to get it on a dragon
Good job. Beat me to it:tiphat:

Looks very nice !! Are you sizing it for ISS AtoZ ??

This looks good! A pack addon is an amazingly good idea.

Sorry for that! :D

For the blanket insulation: I don't know sure yet, but most of the sources show as aluminium cover. I think, we must wait for a press kit, so it can be determined after that.

Yeah, I tried to make it realistic as possible and used the ISS AtoZ PMA as reference to the APAS-95 side (if you don't mind :) ), so it would fit.

I'd like to see a adapter for the [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1489"]HL-20[/ame], though since it's a bit obscure I would understand if you rather focus the Soyuz-stye docking port and the CBM. There really isn't any documentation on the HL-20's docking arrangements, so it would probably be a headscratcher to work on, unlike the other two.

Just thought I wold ask anyway, and good luck with the project.

In short, I've been a little busy with IDA and made some improvement with the look.

I put it in Orbiter enviroment. At first glance, it seemed good, than I realised, it's mirrored on one of the axis, but the texure isn't... I think, the problem is somewhere in the converting process or I'm stupid and make it wrong.

I have begun to work on the Adapter Pack. Above in the picture is the first one of the DG Hard Docking System.

When might it be released ?

When might it be released ?

One week, maybe two. But before I must make a decent texture.
It will be a beta, because I don't know much information about, how it will be placed in the trunk of the Dragon or how it will grab the Canadarm. There is no Grapple Fixture on the IDA. Maybe the Dextre is the solution, I have to look up after it.

It will indeed be grappled by the Dextre. Only way to reach into the trunk. The IDA will be handed off to EVA astronauts, who will then hold it in place on the PMA, while the latches lock it on.

This shows the Dextre grapple and target.

H-Fixture! I have forgotten it. Now it's clear.

So, I'm publishing a Pre-Release Addon of the IDA (on the first page you can download it).
It's not fully complete yet, there are some missing details.
Probably, I like to create 2-3 scenario with ISS and Dragon.
But I think, Donamy have the intentions to do so to his addons(like ISS A to Z), so now I ask you, maybe we can cooperate. :hello:

I will upload a proper addon to Orbithangar, when the CRS-7 mission is over.

Enjoy the docking of new generation. :tiphat:

Just let me know what you need.

Just let me know what you need.

I have in mind a launch scenario with the Dragon, approaching to the ISS, berthing with Canadarm2 and maybe a future mission with docking(Orion-MPCV, CST-100, Dragon V2).

I have already tested with Dragon DLL add-on, works perfectly.

But now I think, it's unnecessary to make a further step until the real mission is over. Some details are unclear.

Well, today was a sad day... Now, there's one adapter left, I hope the second one will see a brighter future.

And enough parts to make a third.
