I would of thought the time/date would be related to Orbiter itself, reading the time/date from scenarios.

Yes of course it's not system date but whichever MJD set in scenario.

This is a very impressive project. How does it look with the Hi-res KSC tiles Martin released a little while back?

Not very good, either martins textures are too bright, or these are too dark.
