After completing a few Apollo (AMSO) missions I've decided to try a different approach using beautiful [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3938"]ATV2-CTV-LTV[/ame] addon by well & no matter. Everything were going nicely till the LTV landing stage. Apollo have a precise PDI autopilot, or even semi-automatic AP, that takes care of vertical velocity.

But how to land THIS 'bird' completly manual? After DOI (PeA about 15k) i've tried Apollo style landing, keeping my vertical velocity at about -30m/s. It works, but it's always ends up with LTV going about 100m/s horisontal velocity. Or i can simply overshoot and start going in opposite direction (horisontal).

And that's all about just common landing - i can't even imagine how to land this 'bird' on a specific point on the ground - Brighton Beach's pad for example. That looks like hell!

So can anybody share the descent profile fol LTV or can i hope for replay?

Thanks in advance.

I'm using Greg Burch's LSTS landers for moon landing, and the easiest way I've found to control horizontal speed manually while descending with constant VS is to tilt abit vector of descent in the direction of horizontal speed. I can land LSTS with no problem on any spot on the moon with using of AutohoverMFD only to keep VS, and it can be easily avoided too if needed. I don't know nothing about LTV though and if it is a big difference with LSTS moonlanders.

[ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3285"]This[/ame] is an amazing tutorial on how to manually land a tailsitter. I've been using its method to land the LTV, and while I haven't perfected landing on an exact target yet, it's just a matter of practice. I can't recommend that tutorial enough.
