Hi All

Some of you may be aware I am currently doing preliminary work for a Mission Control add-on. The add-on will be released in 4 phases and will model a Sounding Rocket launch (mainly because they are quick and simple).

Rough goals for each phase are:

  • · Phase 1 is Master Checklist and Sound track
  • · Phase 2 is Minor Checklists and automation
  • · Phase 3 is panel and displays
  • · Phase 4 is visuals and OMP

The checklist is a large excel document that contains the information of the countdown. It is designed to be used both by the add-on and the user.
At the current time the master timeline and the script are done. Assuming I get enough people involved, each mission will have a random set of voices assigned to the mission.

What I required from you is voice acting. For each numbered item in the script I would like an mp3 file (CBR 128kb 22kHz mono) where the filename is: No._Username.mp3 (eg 38_tl8.mp3).

As a minimum please complete the Common category and at least one other. Please also ensure there is no background noise and speak in a clear voice. Also add emphasis as appropriate. The best program to use is http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ using the LAME encoder.

Note: If one file is contaminated then all files from the category won’t be used.

Once you have completed the number of lines you have chosen, please PM me where I will issue instructions on how to package the files and send them to me.

If you submit a sound pack that is used, then:

  • a) You agree for it to be distributed with my add on
  • b) You agree to have your username or real name to be used in the manual
Please note that your files will be anonymised once I receive them. The username in the filename is so that I don’t mix them up initially.

If you have any ideas about other lines, please post and I will get back to you.

Only the script is posted below, if you wish to see my current progress please PM me.

sounds cool! - i still got the mics and stuff from my "rock star" days...

and i got audition3 all set up at work... i'll see if i can get a mic there and do some tracks within the hour or so i have before anyone else arrives....

would be definitely cool to have something like that FSX ATC system working for orbiter  - alright! i'm go for that!

but it'll probably be a week or so before i can do anything...
"carnaval" is next week, and luckily for me and wife, we're flying down to Uruguay, for i got family there and all.... so i'll be back by the end of next week, and then i can swing by my grandma's garage (where my defunct band's studio was/is) and get my mic and cables....

cheers!

Helping with recording

Hi, I have recorded the first 70 instructions, tidied them up and exported them to mp3. I plan on doing the rest in the next few days.

It's a great idea! If there was any scope for extending this to a general ATC voice pack I'd be interested! If we could get the whole orbiter community to pitch in the variety would be life-like :)

If I can nab a decent mic from school I could give this a go. I've a bit of a monotone, though. :P

I could try if the microphone of the laptop doesn't sound extremely awful.

Think I'll have a go at Range Safety Officer and the Launch Director. I'll get on to that during the week.

Do you prefer a certain sample rate for the recordings?
I am assuming you want 128 kbit/s CBR MP3s. Or is VBR ok too?

If you want somebody with a Texas accent im in. I got all needed mics and software. Jump on OMP Teamspeak3 (omp.dyndns-server.com port 9987) and I'll audition. As far as OMP I be more then happy to help out there in that reguard also. I totally support what your'e doing. Anything I can do to help :) Going to work on script now

Ill go for it, did anyone call for a British accent?

If you have any ideas about other lines, please post and I will get back to you.

I was an air traffic controller for 15 years, and I think I still remember the phaseology. An ATC tape might go well with air breathing aircraft scenarios.
