So I opened up Orbiter, after researching how to get into and calculate an orbit and a lunar transfer. I got into orbit, it was perfect (the DG-IV is very awesome too). So it came time for me to get out the transfer MFD and calculate the burn and everything. The calculations were correct, so I went ahead, disconnected at the right time, everything was perfect! Except..

I had turned the wrong way D:

Or from the next star :lol:...
Or you could make a slingshot around earth to get to moon.

Thats happened to me before. The MFD is wierd like that. Once you get up to a certain DeltaV in the HTO it reverses everything for some reason.

:lol::lol::lol::cheers::censored::blink::sorry::lolol::mellow::suicide::focus:

he he just kiddin that happend to me also exept my ship my ship was pointed towards earth nuff said

I have never made this mistake when I did burns to the moon with Orbit MFD, that is why I don't use Transfer, IMFD, or Transx to get there.

I use Transfer MFD to get there. And I have too, found myself in the situation where the HTO orbit starts expanding instead of the actual orbit.

The key in that situation is to keep the burn and look at your *real* orbit and see when it passes the orbit of the Moon + a little more.

The thing is... when you're going to the Moon, your margin for error is huge.
If you're on your way to Mars, Jupiter or beyond, you miss the alignment by just a bit, burn too long by just a bit and you're gonna miss the planet by 100 000 kms or so.

When you're on your way to the Moon, even if you hold your burn for 2 seconds too long or you're miss-aligned, you're gonna get there just fine. Sure, it's a bit more economical and handy if your ejection burn gets you into a low orbit, but you can still do just fine even if you end up a 1000 km from the Moon :P

This story made me rotfl.

well its better than my first attempts but I dont use any mfds apart from orbit and that one that tells you your Rinc to the target
