Hello Developers.
I am so new to Orbiter (12-5-2014) having just found the manuals and downloading sound 4.0 and all I have run is demos. But I have built models for X-Plane and FSX(Microsoft Flight Simulator X) and I would love to contribute to Orbiter someday once I get used to the controls and Autopilot programing. I have many ideas for orbiters, transports, and long haul vessels. Where can I find the model cfg's and will mdl. files work or what type of file does this use. I will look threw Developer post's but was hoping for a kind soul to steer Me in the right direction. I may end up building ships before I know how to fly them on here LOL. Just want to become a part of this. Thank You.

In your Orbiter directory there should be a folder "Orbitersdk", in that there is a folder with samples for you to dissect, and in the doc folder (still inside orbitersdk) there are the api guides.

I'm a fledgling developer that's perpetually short on time, but there are several here that should be able to get you on your way.

Welcome to the forums by the way! :welcome:

Welcome to the forums.

I think I'm the one you are looking for. All of my addons are made in AC3D. And there is a great .ac to .msh app.

There are something you might try before geting into an actual project:

» export your mesh and get it to show in orbiter. No programming needed, just use the converters and create config files.
» get used to scenarios, docking, attachments, etc. Basically see how your simple craft interacts with others.
» get you craft on top of a launcher and get it into a good orbit

These would give you an idea of how things come together and of how your craft will add into the mix.
