OFMM FAQ/Q&A

Heh, reminds me of a scene from one of the Hitchhiker's Guide books.

"Which is precisely the sort of thing we need to know," insisted the girl, "Do people want fire that can be fitted nasally?"

Never let the cosmetics of something get in the way. :)

Will you be doing Terra-forming on Mars?

No. Orbiter doesn't support it (without texture changes) and there are no addons that can handle this or even meshes that suit this.

The in lunar orbit is a year, the ones in Mars orbit is 3-5 years.

If there are not enough pilots for a one-pilot-a-mission system, will pilots be allowed to take multiple?

Yes, absolutely.

Hey Garyw, I'm one of those fools who kinda missed the Roll Call but would like in on the project. (Actually, I saw the post, but figured it was a necropost regarding OFMM Mk1 and didn't bother reading it right away. Mea culpa!)

I can fly whatever might be needed, and my schedule is pretty flexible for the duration of the (real-time) timeline. Kinda had my eye on that orbital supply drop test at woomera...

Anyhow, let me know if/when my volunteer enlistment forms have been signed and signatured, and I'll post my Assignment Request(s) on the relevant thread.

EDIT: Just realized that the Roll Call thread is still up. I'll answer the questionaire there.

EDIT 2: I'm being a real putz tonight. Roll Call is in fact closed.

Roll Call is closed but you are more than welcome to ak for a mission in the OFMM missions thread

Simple Idea: Stagger their launch periods across a few orbits. Before launch, use thrusters to boost away from the assembly point, to minimize hazards of the engine ignition.
:2cents:

I've moved your posts here as they don't belong the in backroom thread.

The way I see it:

player 1 - launches first craft, burns towards mars & hands scenario to me.
Player 2 - picks up scenario and launches second craft a least 2 days later.

There's really no way around it, we'll have to do multiple launches at the same time. It's really the end result that matters though, so I don't see why Gary can't just integrate the end results of each mission into one scenario file after the pilots are done. But of course, it's up to him. :)

Unless there are dockings.

And are there? Which missions have an issue and if you think you've found problems with the mission list why didn't you bring this up when I posted the provisional missions list?

I don't have problems with the missions list.

Oh wait, nevermind. You can do two separate scenarios to dock with the mothership (at the same time) and combine the scenarios at the end. Please delete this post and the two posts above this one. I'm being stupid again.

Which missions do you have concerns about Pipcard? It would be good to know now before I post the first missions scenario.
