Insanity is now doing a test show on air. Tune in!

Nice tunes Insanity, chilled is what I needed this evening! Except for the last track... but that's awesome lol... nice one mate!

And I second any notion of interactivity. I'm thinking of doing an Orbiter flight challenge show of some kind. Where I set a flight challenge and people have the length of the show to complete/perfect it, sending me their updates to share with other listeners. Maybe a new gate racing course for the Orbiter Racing addon could be a cool way to kick it off... something like that anyway.

Almost as a side note. How do people feel about classical/orchestral music...?

I'd like that, it's 1/2 of my Orbiter Sound playlist. Some stuff from 2001 would be great.

But I'm not sure that there are many people that feel good about it.

Well that was a lot of fun. Good way to burn some time, and hopefully I can do it again soon. Nice to have a chance to broadcast tunes. 3 cheers for Xyon!

Oh, and classical music=win for me.

Thanks for the show insanity!

I just got home from work, so i only listened to the last 4 songs of your broadcast, but they were great!
Hope we'll listen more of you from now on.

As for WHAP's classical/orchestral music notion, i second that!

As long as we can keep the "sleepy" tunes off!

i.e: I'd love to listen to O Fortuna from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana on Orbiter Radio, but not the WHOLE Carmina Burana.

A few classical tunes that (i think) would be popular:

Richard Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001 Space Odyssey)

Beethoven's 5th in C minor op.67 (1st part Allegro con brio) conducted by Herbert fon Karajan

Rachmaninov piano concerto No.3

Mozart Confutatis/Lacrymosa

Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries

etc, etc...

Also, i like it when singers or bands play with some of the world's renowned orchestras.

Metallica & San Francisco Symphony Orchestra

Elton John's "Live in Australia with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra"

"Concerto for Group and Orchestra" by Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. (1969) ... and so on.

dgatsoulis, some good suggestions there, especially about the collaboration stuff.

I have plans for Apocalyptica and the string quartet tribute band too.

Nice!

Consider the Kronus Quartet too, please?

I didn't see you in the schedule! Will you be DJ-ing?

I think I will give it a try most likely, not on the schedule yet. Prolly do a little test show like everyone else some time soon.

And I don't know the Kronus Quartet, shall have to look them up.

Whose event was "The Asulym"?

The Kronus Quartet are the guys that made most of the soundtrack for the Requiem for a Dream movie.

They also have some excellent covers for classic rock themes! (Hey Joe, Foxy Lady, Purple Haze) Nothing but four "strings"! They are pretty awesome!

BTW if your DJ-ing skills are a FRACTION as good as your BASE-BUILDING skills.. then we're in BUSSINESS!

Looking forward to listening to your broadcast
Dimitris

I might put myself onto the schedule
Good radio by the way:thumbup:

Kind words, Dimitris, thank you.

Thanks for the Kronus info.

Nice shows. I really enjoy hearing this radio.

Epsilon is doing a show now.

I hope you all enjoyed my test run this evening, thanks for bearing with me during the technical difficulties!

Nice job gary, just a shame I don't think I'll be around in time for your show tomorrow as it's fps night. Looking forward to hearing another in the future though. I think it's good you're planning to bring a bit of Orbiter into Orbiter Radio.. or atleast some space stuff. kudos.

For the record, we've been doing Orbiter Talk Radio for the past 6 hours - visit the station for some NSFW amusement!

Yeah, this was just great, the main topics were:

  • Games for the Orbiter World Party
  • Would Martins host the World Party?
  • Do Penguins have sexual organs?
  • Maxwell is cool.
That was about it xD.

Totally out of context, yet totally correct. If you're on the forum at this late (or early) hour, we're currently running a show until I get tired, at which point I'll be letting my list run random - which may or may not be a good thing. <_<

Make sure you tune in at http://orbiterradio.thruhere.net/ - and pop into the IRC as well to get your chat on. The #orbiter IRC is accessible through http://www.orbithangar.com via the "Orbiter Chat" link.

By the way, a final thing that we came up with in the show was the tagline:
"Orbiter Radio - Show us on the doll where the radio station touched you."

Needless to say, we should NOT do 13 hours of straight talk radio anymore. The quality goes down rather drastically after hour 9 or 10. >_>
