Okay, so I went back to college in January, and didn't use my offline computer at all for about two months, since the project from my accounting class was taking up my desk. As a result, I got seriously rusty in Orbiter, and had to use the Quickstart scenario to reteach myself the basics. I'm mostly back in business now, though docking is even harder than I remember.

I am thinking about creating a series of scenarios to help veteran orbitnauts who haven't been in the cockpit in a long time, get back up to speed, but I am not sure about what the details of these scenarios should be. I mean, is such a thing even necessary, with the DG demo scenarios already there? How could I go about creating a refresher course that would be more suitable for rusty Orbiterheads than the default scenarios?

Well, I'm kinda the person you're looking for. I'm SORTA a veteran (i've been to the moon, ISS, MIR, and...thats it). So, for me, a tutorial on transferring to other planets would be perfect, plus re-entry details, little notes on orbit insertion, plane change notes, etc. Hit me up if you want a test dummy for your secenarios!

I will! Thanks for the offer:hotcool:

My first idea is to have only two scenarios, both with the same objective: Launch from KSC into orbit, dock with Mir (refuel if your version allows it), undock, head to the Moon and land at Brighton, refuel (again, if possible), take off and head back to Earth. After obital insertion at Earth, dock to the ISS and refuel again, then undock, deorbit and land at KSC for a full two-way trip.

In one version of this scenario, you will be in the stock Deltaglider. In the other version, you fly the Shuttle-A.

It's long-winded, taking better than a week with no time compression, and longer if you wait for the launch windows, but covers every major skill except Trans-X and interplanetary flight, (that will come back to you during the course of the mission).

The document that comes with the scenarios will largely assume familiarity with basic terms like apoapsis, plane alignment, and so on, but will contain short breakdowns of the various procedures.

I would be most interested in this guide. I am getting back into orbiter following an absence and think a refresher mission or two would get me back in the swing of things. Looking forward to your guide.
