Renderings

About 3 million. The count is so high, not only because of the detail but because of an edge rounding tchnique i used, there's not really any sharp angles on there... everything has a chamfer-like effect, which now can be done more efficiently with a material effect but hey... The model itself is about 3 years old since i started it, i still haven't built anything with more detail.

thats a lot :speakcool:

hot off the presses a big fat closeup of my most detailed model to date... With a few of my new UMMU's (which will be released with the XR2) wandering around on the deck.

Fantastic modeling and graphics work. Now, if you could just flush that "starships look like battleships" thing ...:P

Here's a bunch of stuff I did a few years ago relating to the Traveller roleplaying game. These days I usually paint instead, it doesn't require months of my time to produce one decent image :)

oh, all done in Studio Max and Photoshop. There are AVI's on my website under 'RPG Stuff' if you want to see more.

Well, you could at least leave away them liverings on the deck... they made me laugh pretty hard.

The quality of your stuff however is undebatable. Not even all movies have that detailed models!

Thanks, man. Your stuff blows me away. I just don't know how you have the time and the patience :)

I'm absolutely loving the Ravenstar btw. Gorgeous model and textures.

Crow

Thanks mate! I dunno if my textures are on a par with yours, and you were doing way better stuff years ago. Your traveller work inspired me to make that asp explorer model, i'm still jealous of your textures:)

Greg, cheers.. i know it's not everyones style... i don't try to please everyone, thats impossible;) infact they're more based on submarines than battleships, if you peeled away the armour layers and machinery you'd get down to a cylindrical pressure hull with a sail like protrusion which leads to the bridge/observation deck. most of the ship is unpressurised.

Jedidia, lol, they're not meant to be funny though, they're crescent shaped autonomous rescue devices with a vectoring nozzle at each end of the crescent. Since the ships have artificial gravity - as a sideffect of it's mass reduction drive that allows very high speeds and accelleration - it makes sense (at least to me) to have a working deck area hence the railings and other devices... something i did put in for a joke was a vending machine thats loaded with vodka, see if you can spot it on the deck... Of course in the interests of being flexible if i changed my mind or if i had a good offer for the design sans the working deck concept, the railings and other things can be removed very easily to give it a more regular clean look.

Infact i am at the moment selling copies of all my models - which i was previously keeping back for my own universe project. I'd sell copies of the akula to anyone from the orbiter or SFM communities for 300 dollars, which is cheaper than i'd sell them for on 3do2 or turbosquid and way more model than you'd normally get for 300 dollars. and all my other models are being put up for sale soon. If anyone's interested please PM me. cheers.
