shuttle speed

When i try theplayback of the shuttle I notice that the two booster rockets fall off at the correct height but according to what I read the shuttle should be going almost 5000K per hour but on the sim only 1600+
per hour. is that a mistake? I can't make it go faster if I try myself.

Remember that speed is measured in metres/sec

And 1600m/s = 5760km/hr Although I believe that Orbiter would actually display 1.600km/s or just 1.600k anyways.
