Single Use Install

I'm not sure if I'm experiencing
a bug or just doing something wrong, but a while back I tried to do a complete reinstall to clear out all the old add ons I didn't use and start fresh. This was on my roomate's computer which is much better than mine and runs Orbiter much smoother. So I deleted everything, downloaded a fresh install zip, reinstalled and started it up to check it before I installed any add ons. It worked great, so I exited and tweeked some of the settings to my the way I like to have them, and loaded up another scenario.

This is where things go funky. Every time I try to play second time, I get atrocious frame rate (just about 1 fps), and the sky is completely gray. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, re-downloaded, downloaded from different mirrors, and did all of that over again on a different computer. Every single time I get the same result: awesome performance the first scenario, unusable every time after that.

Has anyone had this happen before? Am I doing something wrong?

Make sure to check Always enumerate devices.
I've had this behaviour and the cause was that orbiter "forgot" the device list and reverted to emulation.

Also make sure to run Orbiter in 32 bit mode.
