Hi,

I'm looking for drawings or good photos showing the control panel layout of the flight deck of the Enterprise OV-101, something that I could read the labeling of the various switches and instruments. I'm looking specifically for the OV-101 as the layout differed from the other Space Shuttles.

Does anyone have this material or know where I can get it?

This is the only photo I could find of the cockpit; http://images.jsc.nasa.gov/lores/S77-30025.jpg The Enterprise is now at the Smithsonian, so you might check with them. I checked my copy of "The Space Shuttle Operator's Manual" but it appears that the diagrams are from the Columbia. However there are several good diagrams of the panels with their designations and labels, so using deduction you should be able to figure out some of the panels. I think the book is out of print; perhaps a library has a copy. Lastly, the Space Shuttle Ultra project here on the forum is attempting to reproduce all of the panels exactly; maybe they have some references.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Thanks. I have the SS Operator's Manual and there are significant differences from OV-101.

The name escapes me, but there was a small paperback book in the late 70's / early 80's with 300+ pages which had low resolution layouts of the forward three panels of OV-101 in Appendix B. I wish I had saved the book, but I only kept the pages on the panels.

The book was called "Shuttle: The World's First Spaceship" written by Robert M. Powers in 1979.

I still have my copy around here some place...

Thanks! No wonder I couldn't find the title. I was including "Space" in the title search. I rooted around a bit and saw that there was a hardcover edition and ordered that. With any luck, it will have a clearer view of the forward three panels.

I'd still like to find data or photos on the rest of the cockpit.
