STS-125 will be the fifth and final space shuttle mission launched to service and upgrade the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope. This launch has been push out to October 8 2008 due to ET delays.

STS-125 10/8/08 Atlantis Pad A was 8/28/08
STS-126 11/10/08 was 10/16/08

Having the original as opposed to a replica to put into the Smithsonian isn't worth spending the $400 million for a Shuttle launch. Instead they are extending its service life so that it can keep bringing in those beautiful pictures.

The Left Aft SRM segment was transported yesterday to the VAB and overnight it was lifted into VAB High Bay 1 and was bolted to the MLP.

The Right Aft SRM segment goes to the VAB on Monday.

I still think they should bring it back with them.

Why? If they repair it on the ground then they have to fund another Shuttle launch to take it back up.

When the planned repairs for STS 125 will allow Hubble to do good, important science for a few more years.

It makes no sense at all to return it to Earth.
