I was just thinking - why doesn't someone consider re-creating the Sukhoi PAK-FA fifth generation fighter jet for Orbiter?

Here's a link to the Wikipedia article, in case you need the technical specifications: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_PAK_FA"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_PAK_FA[/ame]

Possibly because Orbiter is a spaceflight simulator and no flight simulator.

Why don't you suggest making a module for DCS? ;)

Why does Orbithangar have an aircraft section, then?

Because there are aircraft. But why should somebody think much about combat aircraft in Orbiter? Its like simulating ships in FSX.

Which, as you know well, is done ALL. THE. TIME.

In FSX? I know. I would order the Proflight Titanic, if I would have FSX.

But what would you do with a PAK-FA in Orbiter?

Same thing you'd do with [ame=http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=6006]this[/ame]: Have a good time.

Or [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3012"]this[/ame] or [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3244"]this[/ame] or [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5105"]this[/ame] and plenty more...:shifty:

Ok, Orbiter ain't no combat flightsim, we all agree here, but there's a (kind of) AIM-120 modelled in the latest OMP, and it could be fun to exploit its potentialities in different airframes.

What I just mean is: Orbiter is a very limited environment for such vehicles and we already have many aircraft of many different types. It adds nothing new and there is little information known about it currently. It would be just another very generic supersonic fighter.

Yes...true, but Orbiter Hangar is also full of generic spacecraft. So what?

Orbiter has excellent atmospheric physics models, engine modules, and base infrastructure capabilities, quite appropriate for atmospheric flight simulation. Some folks are interested in flying some interesting aircraft, so why not?

You could try some ASAT scenarios with the PAK FA...
