The largest moon in 19 years will be visible this Saturday - March 19th. The Moon will reach its perigee of its orbit of Earth at the same time as it is a full moon. The crest of the moon’s full phase comes within an hour of the moon’s closest point to Earth. The moon will be about 8 percent closer to Earth than usual, and about 2 percent closer to Earth than the average lunar perigee. In fact, it'll be the closest positioning since 1992. Grab your telescopes and telephoto lenses as the next supermoon won't be until November 14th, 2016. Here's to clear skies and a great viewing!

Arent you also forgetting something? The supermoon causing a pole shift by 15 degrees stopping the earths rotation? Yes that is a real end of the world theory .

I'm just there for the astrophotography, not for the ignorant theories and superstitions about the end of the world. :D

Have to agree with you there so many of those theories are made up by people who sit at computers all day and...:shifty: wait never mind:lol:

I didn't see any diference in it's size, looked the same to me.

Unfortunately it was too cloudy for me to see it:(

It was only 14% bigger, so it didn't look much bigger when it was high in the sky; however, the moon illusion that occurs at the horizon made it look much bigger when it was just starting to rise. It was also 30% brighter, which was quite visible to me. It was almost too bright to sleep!

Sadly I missed it. But November 14th, 2016 is not too far away :)
