Project Universal Car for Orbiter (UCO)

For now it's "point & click" move mmu to center, click, move mmu to maximum extent (radius) click. You can do that 10 time for 10 temporary areas then you can either test your areas or choose the utility menu option to save the cfg file. Difficult to make it easier.

Now of course I can add an option or input box but most base (97%) will not have any need of height, turbopacking in a base would be an idiot things to do and there is no notion of floor. Maybe just for the big-dome-glass-2560AC bases ?

Well, thinking about it I'll leave it as it is. This is completed and will work for most case so better to release something instead of having the "10'000-features-mythic-addon"

Cheers

Dan

Was some small fun project, after landing in the middle of the Sahara because of a navigation error (yes, that happens, even to me). The plan was to fit a survival gear payload into the DGIV, which contains bubble tent, water purification gear, first aid kit, radio gear and tin food. ;)

It's funny, I was conceptualizing something like that.

But wasn't thinking about the tent... humm... Maybe some geodesic dome. That picture is a bunch of rough models only to show what I was thinking of.

Looks amazing Well!

EDIT: I just saw the other pictures from changing the picture number in your link...I feel a bit guilty now, but THAT IS SO IMPRESSIVE!!!

The Sahara? Not even I make navigation errors like that. xD
Granted, I usually blow up if I don't make the target...

IMO a liferaft (or tent-liferaft, whatever) would be an essential due to Earth's surface being 70% covered by water...

:hello:

Work in progress for ummu 2.0
Looks great. Tux is great for the home->port trip, but we need this kind of suits for off-Earth activity. :)

Dan: just occured to me: can the base-stuff be deployed in space or it has to be on surface first?

Same here and they look awesome!

it seems that he took the rest of the pictures down now... :nono:

Anyways, the one I see here is great. Pitty UMMUs aren't animated. Maybe a project for UMMU 3.0? oh well, I'm gettiing a bit far ahead I guess...

Is it possible to make a "supermarket" in which cargo spawns at your choice? An idea i had at wal-mart this morning.

Good to see that this is still going in a very impressive way. :)

Dan, after trying out your FsP demo during the last days I just ordered the full license. I have to say that FsP simply makes FsX 100% - vanilla FsX looks "incomplete" without your awesome work.

So hopefully your UCO project will some day extend to a project like FsP... even though I know that the amount of potential customers is much more lower for Orbiter.

The great thing about Simulators is that you have a nice time "playing" something but at the same time, you learn a lot. On the other hand though, simulators always have the problem that all sandbox-games share: the world seems dead. No interaction. No life. Your add-ons truely make these disadvantages disappear and add a lot to a great experience.

Just wanted to share my thoughts with you guys.. ;)
Cya... 8)

Really interesting everything... as always... Dan you surprised me.

Much thanks for your support Mr PriestLizard
As FsP is my only income you are now a direct sponsor of UCGO. ;)

NEWS !
--------
What news ? no news good news ?

Working on a lot of small details here and there, animations etc etc. I'm also cuting now what is not done or would take too much time so for example cars will not have any tank for O2 or fuel, you will have unlimited fuel and reserves for this version.

Knowing when to stop and cut in dream is a good part of finishing a big project.

I just made a "Fuel truck" based on the flatbed truck (see previous pages), took me one hours. AI or manual Refuelling of vessels work nice, I just wait the radio sound from canadave to complete it 100%.

Cars are almost done, Freighter is almost done, DGIV-2 need two buttons more, I need to make a UCGO tank station mesh because the SDK allow to grab O2/fuel from those station and it's required to show all the feature the SDK can do.
I need some more cargo mesh and type.

Once all this done I'll start to run all that on Orbiter 2009 and fix things so it might work "out of the box" also with 2009. (UMMU for example have heat problems)

Hey Dan

Last semester I took intro Structured Analysis, this semester I am taking OOAD (Object Orientated Analysis and Design.) As you can guess this has a lot to do with analysis, designing and implementing software systems and solutions which includes programming structure.

Anyway, I am wondering if you used these kinds of analysis phases when your working on UCGO or FSP?

I use more TIBSSH method...

Trow all Ideas in a Box, Shake and Serve Hot. :)

I don't write any plan or things like that, I just think about what I want exactly
then write the code. A clear and organised code is like a plan.

It's not only about technic, there is "something" more.
