Hello all. So I was very happy to finally see the vesselm addons by Igel finally return to Orbit hangar as they were great mods. I am aware that Orbiter 2010 is a rather old version of orbiter but it's just the one I've stuck with and been comfortable with.
Either way I've had some of Igel's original 2006 versions of the R-7 based boosters including the Luna 9/10 missions. They work...kinda but they're very buggy by default. Naturally upon seeing the vastly improved 2010 versions that came with the new pack that was uploaded, I was glad to try it out. And for the most part it seemed so much better. The violent launch oscillations had stopped and the vehicle made it's way to orbit rather well. However, upon waiting for the TLI burn that is necessary to get Luna 9 moonbound, I found that the engine ignites prematurely and does some really weird things. Either way the trajectory is miles off and it misses the moon every time.
I've started testing the other scenarios and so far the ICBM versions at least doing the Kura test ranges are flying too far. So the booster cutoff is occurring too late in the burn causing an overshoot
Luna1 seems to still hit the moon by default anyway?
Running in-flight scenarios seem to give me poor frame rates
All variations of the molniya launcher ignite the engine prematurely
Upon running the in-flight scenario for Luna 10, it seems the MCC fails to align properly with the spacecraft repeatedly oscillating around an axis.
On those occasions where the craft aligns for MCC, it doesn't actually do anything. It just says MCC complete and then luna 10 smacks straight into the moon?
-Thank you.
