Welcome to the forum Sam! I think the overall best piece of advice would be to download "Go Play In Space". http://www.orbiter-forum.com/tutorials.php

My own copy is well worn, indexed and highlighted, and it's a great guide and reference to new Orbinauts. Happy flying!
