Hi All, (long time lurker, first time posting :) )
I have been getting around more with the XR-2, a very nice ride btw.
After docking with the Moon's Luna OB-1, I switched on External Cooling in the XR-2. After exiting, I saved the scenario (by renaming the "Current State" one).
It crashes to desktop (CTD) anytime I load that scenario. I am sure that it is the external cooling state since after I toggled it off, editing the scenario line to "EXTCOOLING_STATUS 0", and then it loads okay. I should also note that this behavior was not a problem docked to the UCGO modified ISS.

My system specs:
Intel Core i7 975 @ 3.99 GHz
12 GB RAM
NVidia GeForce GTX 295
Dell 3007 30" LCD Flat Panel
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Orbiter 2010 with modules: Custom MFD, Orbiter Sound, ScnEditor, transx

Any insight on this bug/"feature" would be appreciated.

Hmm, I just tried a test here and it's working for me. As a test, can you please try this:

1. Install a clean instance of Orbiter 2010 to a new directory (don't forget to configure your video options).
2. Install OrbiterSound.
3. Install UMMu.
4. Install the XR2.
5. Load up the XR2 "In orbit, undocked from ISS" scenario and open the XR2's nosecone.
6. Open the scenario editor (CTRL-F4 -> Scenario Editor).
7. Double-click "XR2-01". Then click the "Docking" button.
8. In "Establish docking connection with", select "Luna-OB1" in the drop-down.
9. Click "Move me to current target position", then click "Dock".

That will dock your ship to the station. Now enable external cooling and exit the sim. Then save the scenario as you did before and reload; it should still work fine. If you still get the CTD at that point, please post the scenario file and I'll try to duplicate the crash here using that scenario. If it doesn't crash in the clean installation, it sounds like another add-on is corrupting (overwriting) memory the XR2 is using; in that case, you can install your other add-ons one-at-a-time in the test installation and re-testing after each one until the CTD occurs. That should pin down the problem add-on.

[One more thing: please be sure you're testing with the new XR2 1.1b release available on my Orbiter site. Thanks.]

Clean Install Cures the Common Cold !

Doug,
First, thank you so much for such a thorough and helpful (and scarily prompt) reply. I am truly enjoying the fine craftsmanship and hard work you and your team put into the XR models.

The clean install worked like a charm. When I successfully reloaded into the scenario Sally Beaumont sounded a bit smug when she told me my External Cooling is most definitely on. I checked on my older install and found I was using the XR2 v1.1a. Doubtfully that was the issue. I agree that it was most likely another add-on. Now for the methodical pinning down the problem child. :coffee:

Now, if only someone could clue me in where I could buy some Altea Aerospace stock. Great products and "out of this world" customer service!

Thanks again,

Cpt Kyleus

P.S. The very next add-on I added was DGIV-2 and the problem reoccurred. I posted the problem on DanSteph's Forum too. *sigh*
