Have been adding some extras to orbiter, such as the new Ravenstar (can't wait to fly this bird) Earth tex ver 9, Moon 9 and Ummu which is needed to run Ravenstar. Since these installments I launched a simple scenario and halfway through, the app crashed, just as before. However, after several attempts I noticed that the crash always occured during the launch of Earth/Textures2.
I then deleted all the Earth related files in the Textures2 directory and since then Orbiter runs fine.
I did notice also that the Earth related files were located in the Textures2 directory, whereas all other files in this directory are located within their own subdirectories. There was no Earth folder within Textures2. This is how the files were placed from zip extraction. Is there something wrong with the way the files were extracted? Or was it that extraction was not complete?

Try [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3201"]Orbiter diagnostic V0.2[/ame]
Knowing your computer specs also could help us to determine if your machine fits minimum requirements.

The problem is that since multiple add-ons were installed at once there is no way to know which one is causing the crash. A standard troubleshooting approach should help:

1. Install a new instance of Orbiter.
2. Install one add-on.
3. Test it by loading up a scenario.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the problem occurs.

That should pin down the buggy add-on.

Try Orbiter diagnostic V0.2

2GHz dual core centrino, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache Processor
Up to 1535MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G TurboCache Graphics
3GB DDR2 RAM

And thanx for the link, I'll try it out after installing Earth tex again

Your computer is not a low end computer.
If nothing comes up with diagnostic, it could be that you installed an addon for older versions of Orbiter.

Think you're right (earth-high-9ver3), cfg file goes to level 10! And thats from the original install of Orbiter 060929, yet the resolution was better on the older addon than that which came with the latest orbiter.
Is there a high res 10 available ?
