HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY ISS!!!

Today (Nov 20 2008) the ISS is 10 years old!!!

10 years ago today, a Russian Proton rocket launched the first module of the ISS (Zarya) into orbit.

The ISS has come a long way since then, but I'd just like to say well done to everyone who has made the ISS a reality, and I'm very much looking forward to at least another 8 years of science....

THIS REALLY GETS ME ANNOYED!!!!

Watch the video from the BBC link above. Towards the end of the video, the reporter says "A shuttle crew is up there right now, and are fitting a new module"

STS-126 is NOT fitting a "new" module. They have just temporarily attached a re-usable cargo module.

I wish people would get their facts right before releasing them to the world:facts:

Not all of us live to see our grand children. Spaceflight like our own lives have stakes we must be willing to take. Ten years in orbit has been quite an accomplisment. Hopefully we have another Ten yet to come!

The Energia is a big mother , not a mother.

Also, I think Energia looks best in the screen savers - reality could have only damaged it's legend.

Hard to believe it has been ten years. It sure has gotten big since Zarya was launched. The ISS makes me feel old.
