Apparently, LC-34 is haunted or believed to be by the ghosts of the 3 Astronauts who died there. Apparently, when you are on the pad you get an extremely weird feeling, like someone is watching you but apparently, if you enter the old buildings near LC-34 and stand quiet, you can hear the screams of Ed, Gus, and Roger in the cockpit saying 'Fire, fire in the Cockpit! We're burning up! Lets get out of here!' NASA used to hold a tour of the buildings, but no longer due to the strange occurrences. Found this on accident, and I am pretty much against the idea of ghosts. But still, interesting. What are you opinions?

Do you have any links with details? I do find ghost stories interesting.

I also remember, way back ago in 2003 I read something about a farmer in Texas saying is farm area was haunted by one of the astronauts of the Columbia crew, apparently one of the astronauts remains were found there. I highly doubt it, and It might just be a random memory but still, interesting.

The real question is: do people who do not know that LC-34 was the location of that fire feel the same way?

Because otherwise I would just feel that this is a self-fulfilling thing. People are told that this is where those men died and some people feel weird, and so they do to.

I think Gus, Ed, and Roger have "better" things to do than haunt LC34.

It's probably a psychosomatic manifestation of guilt and respect for the fallen heroes. I'd probably feel a bit weird visiting a place where such a sacrifice was made.
When I read the book "Apollo 13" I get goosebumps occassionally during scenes which exhibit a true sense of heroism, leadership, teamwork etc.

"You didn't have good enough wiring in cockpit, and now I am zombie goast!!

I visited a few years ago. They stopped doing most of the tour after 9/11, not ghost stories (which I did not hear about). The weird feeling (for me) is respect and sadness, but also a determination to leave the world a better place, which I also get hearing Taps, got visiting Punchbowl national cemetery, the Arizona Memorial, and to a lesser extent seeing a once flight-ready Skylab sitting in the NASM.

actually I went on a tour that brought us to the to the LC-34 launchpad.
and that feeling of somebody watching you is true well at least for me it is because when i was there i had that feeling. as for ghost well I believe that its possible, ive been to places that have been called haunted and had some strange experiances.

But did you go to any of these places without having been told that they were haunted, or knowing that they were the site of someone's death?

Well for most of them i wasent aware that they were haunted (Usally when i had a strange experiance i would tell someone about it and thats when i found out they were haunted). When I visited LC-34 i had no idea that there were claims saying it was haunted thats why when i had that someones watching you feeling I was wondering why i was having it.

I've been to LC-34. I knew the history at the time when I was there. I am somewhat of a ghost believer. (long story) I had no feeling what-so-ever, aside from the somber feeling of being in a place where three people gave their life for their country.

I'll take any website with the name "strangeusa" with a VERY large pinch of salt.

A ton or so, Gary? :P

Oh man, that's sad. Lost oppurtunities.

Try Gettysburg, were 50,000 Soldiers died.

I think you have missed the point.

Visit Europe. Every square meter here saw battles, compared to which Gettysburg was a peaceful event. Even the mountain tops of the Alps had been battlefields.

If you rate the relevance of a location by the number of deaths in a battle, you will never understand history at all.

Where are the rest of the ghosts?

Estimates vary but an approximate number of people who have lived and died on the planet since we started recording history is about 110 billion. Since the earths surface land area is about 150 million km2, this averages out to about 733 dead people per km2. Of course some of these people died at sea and very few died in Antartica or on the tops of the mountains so these figures are approximate, but as I figure it there is a dead person about every 36 square meters. If there were such a thing as ghosts we should be up to our keesters and tripping over them.;)

Well, some may have had Melinda Gordon's help.
