I'm new to Orbiter [found it July 24 09] and I wanted to post my first "Challange" I completed: Smack! Rescue.

This took a bit of doing.

Scenario:
SMACK! from basic install

Goal:
"Rescue" GL-2 which is "Out of Main Engine Fuel" [Make believe... Yay!]

Process:
Docked to GL-2, I restored a stable orbit, sync'd the plane to the ISS, Performed a rendezvous with ISS and then placed the GL-2 in stable line with docking port 1 [way harder than I thought it would be], Undocked with GL-2 and cleared the path allowing GL-2 to dock, GL-1 docked.

I'm not sure if I have the DV to deorbit the GL-1 with full crew. I may alter the scenario save to allow for a "Fuel run" with a shuttle from earth or Brighton beach. Either way, if you want to make your maneuvering skills a bit better, give this guy a go.

pics and scenario quicksaves to come

A targeted Ballistic trajectory? Oh great.... Here comes the math :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. This will be fun.

As a fairly new member of the Orbiter community let me say, "welcome!"

Also, congrats on the first mission! Getting from Brighton the ISS is actually a pretty fun flight and can be done quite cheaply-in terms of fuel and time. See if you can do a fuel run from brighton in the shuttle a with enough fuel leftover for a return flight to the beach.

Tip: No need of math. You may use Aerobrake MFD.

Space shuttle is hard to handle for newbies.
I would recommend you to master easier craft like Delta Glider or Delta Glider IV.
Later you may try Shuttle A and finally David413's space shuttle.

Thanks all! I'll post how it goes this weekend.

*Making Spell-check cry since 1982*

Apparently I'm more likely to crash into China than to make a ISS rendezvous.

Weeee...

I'm going to create a new scenario with the editor to make this a bit more interesting. Use of the Fuel Management MFD will make this a bit nicer, but I'm not sure how to do a 'Crew Transfer' to get the crew off the one DG to the other. While this can be done with the editor, is there a MFD or other module available?

Thanks for the help! This is defiantly a skill builder.

You are using the DG-IV, right? Open both airlocks and try performing an EVA. Let me look at it because I haven't actually played Orbiter for some time.
