The tank may well be getting made into a miniature, at a fairly large scale for wargaming. What were you looking to do with the model urwumpe?

I do a lot of work for miniatures & model kits producing digital prototypes. I've recently been working on a 2010: the year we make contact, with a 2010 discovery and leonov, the kits will of course be 'dockable' to make an impressive steel-reinforced display.

I can't remember the precise scale but discovery is about 24 inches long. Here's a hd desktop version of the artwork i've made for that project... i'm going back and redoing some of the details at the moment because a new book of production stills was released recently.

i'm sure i've posted some of the older images here before in another thread, and they've been on a number of forums and blogs. here's a big gallery of some older work, mostly pre-2006 http://www.scifi-meshes.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=411&username=coolhand

No real idea yet, but since it is already common in the German Battletech community to have custom miniatures as prize on conventions, such a design might be something to be remembered.

Also, if the poly-count could get reduced to Orbiter levels, I still need a nice heavy tank mesh for the Orbiter-BattleTech project and that is an immediate need, since I will run out of any development time for some months soon and want to get the workbench clean before that.

what scale is that game? And much as i'd like to help ya out, i'm unlikely to be able to make a low poly version of the tank any time soon, sorry.:(

btw xr2 model kit is still in progress, if any of you are interested. It will probably be 144th scale.

micro-armor scale (1:285).

Don't worry about the time, I know you invest your time more effectively than I do, and will eventually get somewhere close to it one day...and I can wait....a bit.

OMG coolhand! That first ship is awsome. I would LOVE to be able to fly that in orbiter. Please please please...more epic screens of the XR-2 mk2.

I have some micro armor for sale here: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/coolhand only a few peices available, & I would recommend 'white detail'

here's another shot of that rear end i posted earlier, now at a more visually digestible angle. I know it being in shot with the mk2 is asking some obvious questions, Is it an XR? no. is it even for orbiter? maybe, it is a 'low poly' model no reason why it couldn't go in. Other questions might include; "whats up with that mid section?" And, "is that even a spaceplane?"

Anyway, thats the last of the non xr2 related posts for now.

It looks mean. :)

Is it supposed to be an interplanetary passenger spaceplane?

AMAZING Ship Coolhand! I'm guessing that midsection is a cleverly done artificial gravity ring thingy where the ship (starliner?) "disassembles" in space and rotates the modules to produce artificial gravity.
XR10 perhaps? :P

yes thats exactly right! a ship to make travelling between earth and mars as convenient as any earth bound cruise or intercontinental flight. For some reason i picture the mars of the future having a popular las vegas style resort that would need to be fed by tourism. perhaps i've seen Total Recall just too many times however.;) Once freed of the atmosphere - and possibly after the final trans mars injection burn, the mid section deploys into a centrifuge so the passengers don't become too enfeebled on the journey.

Illustrate scale or not, that's a sweet looking ship. I wouldn't mind taking it or a spin around the moon a time or two :)

Rendered a couple of texture tests which feature the xr2 so they are related;) what i'm trying to do is make something thats detailed up close, but not too repetitive from further away. here you can see lee, relaxing in business class while kara minds the shop...

Uh, no. Check back in the thread a little for pictures of the XR2 Mark 2.

You do realize that by posting pictures of that monster you will be bugged about releasing it for all of eternity, right?
