Question Rotation of stages in Velcro Rockets.

Recently I have been fiddling a bit with velcro rockets. I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I can't figure out how to rotate stages. I've tried changing the direction and rotation parameters, with normalized vectors, but every time either the rocket is stretched strangely or nothing happens. Evidently I am doing something wrong. So my question is how do we rotate a stage?

For example, in this situation how do I place the S-ICs parallel to the body of the nova?

You need to use the LONG specification (in fact, that's what it's for) because otherwise it'll assume (0,0,-1), that the nose is pointing directly along the Z-axis.

Try something like:

Which I stole off an SRM strap-on on the "Loft a 20m Orion on a NovaSSTO" scenario. In fact, that's the one you should be basing this off of; it's pretty similar to what you're doing.

That might be a bit too much. With 4 stretched S-Ics and 12 SRBs I'm "just" missing 2000m/s to get to orbit. I figure 4 other S-Ics should be enough.

What are you trying to launch? If it`s 20 m Orion Nova with some SIC`s and few srb`s will not make it. Orion is weighs 5800 tons, it needs a monster rocket to blast it into orbit.
 
Yes I'm trying to launch a 20m Orion.

With this I'm only missing a couple hundred m/s to get into LEO.

It has 8 S-ICs and 20 ASRMs.
 
Can you post the scenario file when you complete it. I`d like to test this monster.

Looks like you still have free space for 4 additional SIC`s. Try to strap more to the Nova.

Or you can download my Saturn V MK II addon and replace SIC`s with much more powerful stretched Saturn V MKII core stages.

There are no such things as too many strapons and too much power:thumbup:

This should get a fully equipped 20m orion into LEO, if the inclination of the targeted orbit is not too high (polar orbit won't work and a retrograde orbit is definitively impossible). Also, because of the way I attached some boosters, after having started the core stage, you must manually "start" boosters 1 through 4 using remote vessel control. If this is not done, most of the SRBs and 4 of the S-ICs will not ignite.
