Take a look at it. What impression do you get?


I noticed some people think it has something to do with India or something (on other forums, and in multiplayer games), and I just want to test this fact out. Does it give you that impression?

I am not from there, or in any way related, I chose this username because its got a cool wibe, sounds fresh, and EXPLOSIVE, but seriously it sounds like turbines. And I love my turbines. Can you beleive I spent a good 30 minutes choosing a good on-line name some years ago when I started playing multiplayer FPS and posting on message boards? Anyway, it never crossed my mind before, but 3 times today I ran in to people thinking i'm from India. Does this mean anything there? Maybe I should have chose Turbonator.

India? Seriously? Turbanator, maybe, but people wear turbans in many other cultures aside from India. I see your username, I think of turbines, ie cool spinny things

Ya, your old avatar and the name really suggested to me that you somehow were associated with the manufacture or the repair of turbines. :lol:

Most likely the aerospace bend here on the forum. Most people are aviation fans as well as spaceflight fans.

While that is overstating it a bit, I also thought of turbines when I saw your name. India never crossed my mind. Maybe if you said it out loud, it would sound like turban, but I don't think many people say usernames aloud like that.

Same here, India never crossed my mind. I read it as TurnBINator, not TurBANator. I thought it sounded pretty cool myself. Maybe not as cool as Phantom Cruiser, but hey... Now, if I could only reach my power bands.... And, who here is old enough to know what I'm talking about?
Could be the people here on this forum may be a little more cosmopolitan than some other boards? Meh, don't know, probably, but that may just be me.

My thoughts are the same. I only ever thought of turbines, never turbans.

I got the turbine blades back, cause I loved them myself.

When I registered for this new Orbiter forum I was actually thinking of registering as Turbine. But I decided to go with Turbinator, because that's the username I used on the original Orbiter forum.

It's good to see that the name is seen as intended, guess I ran in to some strange people on-line today?
Then again, the internet never had a shortage of strange people.

OK, so I can give my wife an explanation, just who was the chick with the blue hair?

I had to scroll the screen up so she would know I'm on the Orbiter forum and not some other site. She really does know that when I'm surfing the internet late at night that I'm here, and not some "other" kind of site. Plus, while I'm orbiting, the music and radio chatter gives it away.

Well I certainly noticed the fact that you're using turbine.com's logo and have a related name. I haven't made any negative judgments, but I did notice.

India never crossed my mind either, but turbine and turban are homophones for me (both "turbin"), (IPA: /tɚbɪn/).

I'd say whoever thought you were from India must have not had very good spelling and gotten the two words confused.
