Company plans Cape Breton spaceport without NASA

I think NASA wants to forget about the ISS, once the Shuttle is retired.

Gee, ya think? For NASA ISS = moneypit. They want to spend their dough (actually it was our dough, but its theirs now) on the Moon stuff. Better publicity. It's a shame the ISS isn't closer to the lunar orbit plane. Integrating it into lunar missions would increase flexibility.

Ah but that would have made things more expensive when the Russians wanted to send things up, and we couldn't have that, could we? It is the International Space Station. If Antarctica were a major economic power with space capabilities, then the ISS would be in a polar orbit so that they wouldn't have to perform plane changes either.
